Bags only -DME or bag pick up service?

I'm getting conflicting information.

Is there a bag pick up service to take luggage to/from Disney resorts and airport?

If not, is it possible to book DME and not use the bus service but just use it for luggage handling only?

Disney reservations line says yes. DME says no.

The bottom line. We want to rent a car at the airport and turn it in at the airport. But we would sure love to have our checked bags handled for us. Staying on property. Is this doable?

To answer your first question, yes, there is luggage service between MCO and Disney OWNED resorts.

I think you might be getting conflcting answers from the reservations line and DME because you can easily have your checked luggage taken to MCO from a Disney Resort. The RAC (Resort Airline Check-In Service) will transfer your luggage from the resort to MCO. RAC is not DME (so they're different services). ^^This, what figment said.
For some reason Disney tends to talk about DME and RAC in the same breath and it makes it sound like they are linked, but they are not. It is so nice to be able to check your outbound luggage straight through at the resort. But I wish they would separate the incoming baggage transfer from DME too, but no such luck yet.
