Bags on the first day

I was wondering what the deal is regarding your luggage getting to your room on the first evening. I have read that you should put anything on your carry ons that you want to keep with you. Will we get the luggage before dinner or should I make sure to have my dinner clothes on me. Also, what exactly is the luggage they take from you? We aren't checking any bags onto the plane so I'm wondering will they take our luggage when they pick us up from the airport? Thanks!

DCL, if that's who is picking you up, will, if they do as they did with our group, recognize your bags by the special tags, put it on a truck, stow your carry-on luggage in the shuttle and off you will all go to the port (or resort?). If you are going to a resort, the bags will be delivered to your room eventually. Because the staterooms are being cleaned, you will not have access to them to change, or? until, I have heard, as late as 5:30PM. That is enough time, probably, to get to the room, get changed, get oriented, before the first dinner seating...but if there's anything you might need before your luggage arrives at your stateroom put it in your carry-on bags, which you can get right away when they unload the carry-on stuff.

On the ship, you will have access to your stateroom by 1:30, but your luggage (if checked) may not be delivered until 5:30. THat said, we have always had our's by 3....
