Bags on rides

OK stupid question - We've always had a stroller in the past so I never paid much attention. I'm used to tossing a bag in the stroller and parking the stroller to go on rides. If we go strollerless, what do you do with any bags? Can you take them on all of the rides?

Yes you can take your bags on the rides. I have a pretty big bag that I carry with me to the parks and I haven't had any trouble taking it with me on any ride. Some of the more wild rides have a pouch that you can use to secure your bag and even my big bag fits in them no problem. If not pouch is available, I either have the bag on the seat next to me and a family member or if we are squeezed in, I place it in between my feet on the floor of the ride vehicle (except on rides where water is involved like Splash Mountain- It will get soaked on the floor). I do miss the stroller days where I could store it there though...

Yep - disney is awesome for this - I don't know of any ride that you can't bring on your bag. Be careful that you're zipped and no loose sunglasses in outside pockets or anything & have a plan off water rides, but you're good to go carrying your bag!

I carry a big backpack all the time and the only ride I have a problem with is Space Mountain. I had to hold it over the top of the lap bar and hope for the best.

I rent a lockers so I can store some of the stuff there and only carry what I currently need in my bag. Other than that, as others have said, it's possible to take the bag on the rides with you (actually, you have to take it with you because there is no storage facility/locations at the rides themselves and CMs won't watch bags left behind). There are lockers near Kali River Rapids for guests to use while they're on the ride.

i take my bag on every attraction with me.
on mild rides you can hold it on your lap, set it on the seat next to you , or set it on the floor.
on some thrill rides such as space mountain, soarin, and mission space there are compartments to put your bag. in the case of space mountain if its too big then i just wrap a strap around the lap bar. in the case of soarin and mission space you can put them on the floor off to the side of the ride vehicle.
on other thrill rides such as tower of terror and rock n roller coaster i put my leg through the strap and it says just fine.
i have never had any issue.

Yep, you can carry a bag on every ride! I would never leave anything I couldn't easily replace in a stroller, it may not be there when you return.

We thread our legs through the straps of our backpacks on rides like RnRC and EE, and for Space Mountain (one of the only ones where you must hold bags with your hands), we hold on to the top strap. I've never had any issues on any rides. Be sure to have bags with good zippers that stay closed.

Glad to know in not the only one threading my leg through the back before I pull the restraints down on RNRC lol

I love Disney for this. We bring an insulated bag with drinks and snacks (because my wife is cheap and which I have to carry), and it goes on every ride. At US/IOA, they don't allow bags on the big rides. They have lockers nearby each ride that you have to rent. The wait for using the touchscreens to rent the locker can be as long as the wait for the ride.

I carry a pretty decent sized backpack (you'd think we were climbing the Himalayas) :rolleyes2 It comes on each ride with us no problem.
have fun!

Yes, you can bring a bag. Personally, I am happiest when I don't have one, or have only a tiny crossbody bag.

In some seasons/weather, we are forced to carry extra water and/or jackets of some kind- so then we end up with a (bigger) bag.

I have done almost every kind of bag at WDW (except I refuse to ever do a fanny pack). The thing with backpacks is that they can be a tricky fit on a few rides (SM), I also don't like the feeling of having something wrapped around my legs, or having a sweaty back under the bag, or that tired feeling of carrying a big weight all day. If you can limit yourself to a tiny crossbody bag- then you don't have to do anything with it. It just hangs at your side all day, and stays put on rides. Using the pouches is an easy way to leave something behind (been there).

Another solution is cargo shorts. Men's cargo shorts are especially good for carrying things. Jacket pockets can also be used.

A big plus for eliminating the bag is that you get to bypass the bag check.

If we must bring a bag, I also personally try to limit my bag to one compartment, which is easier at bag check. A pet peeve of mine is getting stuck behind a clueless guest with 20 pockets and no idea that they have to open all of them for security!

Oh, and if you plan to go on Kali- sometimes a waterproof Ziploc bag is a plus for expensive things.

DD17 took a small sling style purse with us and she was able to carry it onto every ride.
