Bags for kids?

Do any of you have your children carry some sort of bag while in WDW? My ds's are 9 and 6 and I'm thinking about having them carry a fanny pack that they can put their sunglasses and camera in. They will also have a carabiner attached to their clothes to carry their water bottles.
Am I crazy to think they will carry their own things?
Any suggestions as to what bags/fanny packs worked best?

I don't know what kind of bags to use - I'm wondering the same thing myself. I'm looking for a fanny pack for my 4 year old.
And, in my opinion, your kids are old enough to each carry a little bag with their stuff in it!

DH and I usually carry the stuff. They don't need a whole lot. Sunglasses are on their faces.

Last year before our trip to WDW, I bought each of my three children youth sized (small) demin backpacks and had their initials monogrammed onto them. Later, we decorated them with Disney and other iron on patches that we found at Hobby Lobby. Once we got to WDW, they even put a couple of tradings pins on them. They turned out really cute, and they were just the right size.

Speaking from my experience though.... anything that your children carry or wear will eventually be a problem for you or your children. For me, the worry of one of them leaving it behind somewhere was more than I wanted to deal with so after the second day, we left their backpacks in the resort. The backpacks were really handy at the airport though ~ perfect for hand held games, a book, a small drawing tablet and pens, etc.

Each of my kids will have a fanny pack:

www.beltoutlet.com has some. But the $4.95 ones are SMALL. I got the $5.95 ones for my 2 older kids.

Each of my kids can carry his or her own sunglasses, autograph book, mister fan (except my youngest; it won't fit into her fannypack) and a snack or two. There won't be anything that will cause a problem should it somehow get lost.

WE'll be heading back to the room after lunch; if they choose not to bring their stuff at dinner time, that's up to them.

But a fanny pack isn't especially hard to carry and theirs won't be especially heavy. They'll like the independance of not having to ask mommy for their glasses or autograph book, especially at those times when Kira is too small for a ride and we split up.

no - we usually have a backpack and camera bag, they don't have anything of their own to carry though either -- too much for me to keep up with :)

In 1999, I took my cousins aged 8+10yrs. They each had a fanny pack with a water bottle holder.

We gave them each an empty mini M&M container to fill with nuts, gummy bears, etc. They also grabed a granola or cereal bar for the fanny pack. That way if they were hungry they could eat something when they wanted. We filled up our water bottles (with filters) in the park.

It worked out great-nobody lost their bag as it was always on while at the parks. They also had a disposible camera each to put in their fanny pack. Sunglasses were worn with a string thing so they wouldn't get lost.
