What kind of bags do your kids bring to Disney? Sons will be 9 for next trip, so think it's time they help!
They'll need a water bottle, some snacks and maybe a jacket. Thanks!

My kids are always responsible for a rolled carryon to get through security, and onto the plane. However, I prefer that they don't carry bags, because it's just one more thing to worry about. We travel light - only need a small backpack - so I see no need for my kids to carry a bunch of stuff.

At WDW, they all had lanyards (pins, ticket, fast passes, gc), shorts with pockets, and some clips for water bottles. That's all they needed.

I just ordered cinch sacks with a mesh backing for my three kiddos, 7, 8 and
9 and had them monogrammed with their initial. Super fast shipping and very reasonable. They will carry their water bottles, poncho and snacks with them. They can feel free to choose their snacks to put in their own bag and snack as they please throughout the park without me having to rummage for everything.

Good luck!

My girls have drawstring bags that they use and DD15 has a small pin bag she uses as well.

We carry 1 backpack with padded shoulders that is insulated.

We take 4 frozen bottles of water (is heavy first thing in the morning..but lighter later and worth their weight in GOLD) fresh fruit and snacks in it..and also use it to put any purchases in. We each take turns carrying it and it's not a big deal at all. That way everything we need is in one bag and while standing in line..we open it up and have a little feast! I can't tell you how many people look at us with envy..WISHING they could have a freezing cold ice water and apple slices in line for Space Mountain ::yes::

We've found the cinch sacks work out great too. They're lightweight, and the kids can choose what they bring each day. We also bought the lanyards that have the little zipper wallet thingy clipped onto it. They use that for their pins for trading and also keep their KTTW card in it. We've also made sure their names and our cellphone numbers were in it as well. This has always worked great for us.:)

We didn't do bags for the kids as I was too afraid they'd leave them on the rides we felt that they were eating enough at meals that they didn't really need to carry snacks but they did have a pouch with a strap that went over the shoulders for water bottles.

It was great and insulated so the water stayed cold. We got them in the parks and surprisingly they were not ridiculously expensive. Less than $10 and it made for a great souvenir too.

Because I would also worry about the kids leaving a bag behind, I'd look at a child's fanny pack option. They just put it on and go.

My 8 year old used a bag designed for a Nintendo ds. He wore it cross body and kept his camera and sunglasses in it.

That sounds interesting. Where did you find an insulated backpack?

TIA!

I just ordered one for my hubby through an Avon catalog that is marked fathers day from someone I work with. Maybe they have a web site

Because we went during the summer last year, I was worried about keeping things dry (cameras and autograph books) so I bought these and a bunch of fold-up water bottles:

I did learn that while the water bottles were nice to have, we really didn't need them. Every place we went to had cups of water. The clear bags were small and really only fit an autograph book, pen, granola bites and raisins, and a small bag of crackers. We clipped the water bottles on the outside of the bag. They worked perfectly for the kids and the clear bag made going through security very, very easy!

when kids were little...under 8 they used fanny packs that had mesh water bottle holders on the side. The small 8oz bottles fit in there nicely. They only carried their water and snacks. Now they use small back packs from wal-mart $7. Plain with 1 outside pocket. They take their 16oz water bottle, snacks, rain poncho and cell phone and whatever else they want to carry. So glad they carry their own stuff now :yay:

Jackie101 found a great insulated backpack (see earlier post) which is very similar to ours. Honestly, if I had one trick I have when park touring this one is an absolute must! Couple of added comments if planning on doing this...

Empty water bottles so ice can expand (take out about 15% of water)
Keep water in a separate plastic bag (grocery bag is what we use) so that when it sweats it doesn't get anything else in the bag wet

It is heavy first thing in the morning, but gets lighter within just an hour or two. The water melts and you have ice water, then can refill it at any drinking fountain and have cold water (and FREE water) all day. This trick easily saves us at least $25-$35 dollars a day (snacks & water not bought in the park) and we stay hydrated. Can't recommend this enough! :thumbsup2
