hi everyone!

Just wondering if the resorts allow you to leave your bags in a designated area after you check out? Wanting to stay at the cabins but have a late flight (9pm). Not sure of plans for that day...thinking maybe shopping at DS or local area. Would probably pick bags up around 5-6pm. Is that allowed? Will have a hire car but don't like the idea of keeping all our belongings in the car for the day.

30 minutes to get your bags from bell services? That's a lot. You should be able to get them in 2 minutes if that, in my experience. Sorry if I'm missing something in why you say 30 minutes.

But OP, yes, just leave your bags will bell services and come pick them up when you're ready to go.

There may be people in front of you in line. The later you are the less bell service. Also just in case there are any issues you have time and are not rushing to the airport.

Also, it's not like a lot of places where the storage room is right where you drop them off. It's separate - not far, but separate.

AND they have a limited number of people working so especially shortly before a DME scheduled pick-up, you are very likely to have other people wanting to pick up bags as well.

I agree with 30 minutes.

And check your airline checked bags with them in the morning! Just have them hold your carry on bags. We've done it every trip at every resort and hotel (Disney or not).

Although, if you are not planning on returning to the resort other than to check your bags, and it's only a few carry on bags, I'd just put them in your trunk where they are not visible. We did that one trip and went to Disney Springs (well it was Downtown Disney which I liked so much more than how it is now). This was in the days prior to RAC, and am I glad we had our bags instead of checking them through RAC. Flights were cancelled, and we spent another 3 nights in Orlando! It was amazing though!

Just to note... If there is major weather (a la the Northeast Christmas Blizzard of 2010) that has virtually all flights cancelled, RAC will not take your bags. When I went over, my flight was still showing as going and the girl would not take them because if it was cancelled getting them back would be a pain if possible at all.

And it turned out to be a VERY good thing that I had them as I got the "your flight is cancelled" notification text while on the Tragical Express. LUCKILY my sister was a CM who lived in Orlando so I was able to bunk with her until I got a flight out (New Year's Day...which was super lucky and I truly believe only because it was JUST me and I gave her three airports with three additional ones "if I can get out earlier with those") - 5 days later.

Are you walking about the Fort Wilderness Cabins? I believe your baggage will be stored at the check in area which is at the front of the campground. You would just need to go in there and pick them up.

If you want to check them at RAC do it early. But good point about if weather at home looks bad! One trip, our flight was cancelled hours after check out, but our bags were in our rental car trunk. Got a room at the airport for an extra 3 nights until we could get home.
