I want to take the kids to the bus while my husband gets the bags (arriving after 10pm) can he pick uo my bag or do I need to be there with ID? Some airports have surprised me needing to check ID. Trying to minimize my walking due to mobility issues.

It's not going to be a problem. How would anyone even know whose bag it is?

I can't remember the last time I hung around waiting for bags with DH, unless it was an international flight that required going thru customs.

not sure what airports you go to but i've never needed ID to take a piece of luggage of the carousel at any airport i've been to both domestically and internationally including MCO.

It's been a while but I have gone thru some airports where you needed the bag claim check to exit the baggage area. Not needed at MCO.

Just a funny story I was maybe 7/8 and we went to Disney and they made you show your baggage claim ticket to leave with your bag. On the way home we landed at JFK and took our bags and walked out. I said to my dad why isn't anyone checking like in Florida, a New York City cop turns to me and goes this is the new NY we are safe now....:rotfl2:

Was it after 9/11/01? (pun intended)

Things can get confusing when you walk into a guarded carousel area with your carryon, then fetch your checked bag, then walk out. How does the tag checker know other than via your word, that the carryon was not an item taken from the carousel without authorization?

No claim check on the carryon is one way. Of course, it doesn't mean that you removed the luggage tag before getting to the guard.

They used to check it somewhere I used to travel; all I can remember is it was in CA (SAN? OAK?) I have not seen id checked at baggage claim in many years, either at US or international airports.

I wish that would mean I am a lot younger :)

It was late 80's, early 90's maybe...

Honestly I only remember the story because I find it amusing now as an adult.

We used to have to show ID in Denver! No sure if they still do. Last head in Miami they asked my husband for the claim check but no ID

Yes, but is your name on that? I don't remember ever seeing my name on one?
I just flew Delta on Friday and still have both. My name is on both. They didn't check ID, they just checked that the bag tag matched the claim check.
