Baggage Fee?

Ok, we have a flight on Airtran and we are going to be asessed the 1st checked bag fee but my question is does this fee apply per leg of your trip, for example we are flying with my aunt's family who get their first bag free and their ressie is a round trip. If we have them add a 2nd bag we pay $25 is the $25 per leg or RT? We booked our ressies one ways to save $$ with the $20 coupon so we don't want to pay $15 for each leg. Does anyone know?

You pay per direction. It doesn't matter if you bought your tickets as two one-ways or a round trip. So, whether you claim the bags or have your aunt's family do so, you'd be paying both ways. If one charge is cheaper (it sounds like it is cheaper if you claim them), I'd go with that.

If you have connecting flights, you pay only once - not for each flight (going in the same direction).

By "leg" I assume you mean outbound flights vs. return flights? You have to pay the baggage fee each way but if you have connecting flights you do not have to pay $25 for each segment.

Thanks for the info, I wish I had turned to my trusted Disboards before I hit the submit button. Do you think they can change it at the gate tomorrow?

Sorry, I'm not following. What do you need changed at the gate tomorrow? Did you have the luggage assigned to your aunt?

Yes, I put one of ours on hers and put in my cc info already. I am trying to do too many things before we leave tomorrow and the kids are still running around the house.

Sorry, I have no idea - I'd call AirTran. Definitely don't wait until the gate - you might be able to do something at the check-in counter, but you may be out of luck. Is AirTran on the airlines that charges less if you do it online than at the airport?

Hope you have a great trip!

I just got off the phone with Airtran and there is nothing showing up in our ressies so I will have to take care of it at check in tomorrow. Thanks for all the quick responses and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
