My Flight to LAX I booked through Delta Airlines website but my flight is Operated by Virgin Australia and I am unsure what my baggage allowance would be would I get Virgin Australia Allowance or Delta's?

I am pretty sure you have the baggage limit that the airline you booked with offers, though give them a call just to check

We are flying on Delta metal but with a VAustralia flight number. On the VA website it says that we have VA baggage allowance as it does on our print out from FC.

Unless you have some kind of FF status to claim ASSUME THE WORST...

As I was repacking my handluggage at Hong Kong Airport because the @#$ at QANTAS check in wouldn't honour the Air France carry on allowance the KNOWLEDGE in my MIND that I was right wasn't going to get me on the flight any faster...
They don't board people having a tantrum in check in...

For Checked baggage you may need to have the battle later too...EVEN...
If you do have in writing that you are entitled to something in particular because of who you booked with.

They claim

OUR AIRCRAFT OUR RULES

Adnauseum...
especially with carry on. At least with checked you will likely win that fight afterwards even if you pay fees at the time

I'm liking hearing everyone travelling with Delta. Makes my spur of the moment choice seem more reasoned :P

Whenever talking about this airline, who else breaks out into Goodrem's back catalogue?

I got in contact with both Virgin Australia and Delta Airlines and here are their responses

Virgin Australia - "Hi Jessica, fares booked through Delta Air Lines, with a DL flight number, are entitled to Delta's baggage allowances, regardless of the flight's operating carrier."

and

Delta Airlines - "Thank you for contacting Delta Air Lines via Facebook.
Our records indicate another carrier for flights departing Melbourne,
Australia to Los Angeles, California. Please allow us to refer you to
Virgin Australia for the baggage fees requested. "

So now im totally confused they both are saying opposite things

if you booked thru delta, then use delta's baggage allowance

if booked thru VA then use their's.......

Usually you get the international carriers baggage restrictions.

And then you book with points on Qantas Business internally in Australia with stopovers because you can't get a direct flight and then get stuck on a small regional flight on one leg that only has economy and then you're stuck with a 1 bag allowance all the way
