I just learned that they are searching all bags upon entry into the theme parks. Is this true? And that they have two different lines for entry - with bags and without. If so, are the "no bags" lots shorter than the "with bags" line?

My friend said that she stuff all of her stuff (including her fanny pack) into her pockets. Then she went through the "no bag" line. Will this work?

Can you carry a camera through the "no bag" lines? What about a video camera in a case?

Sorry for all the questions. I just heard this today for the first time and am leaving Christmas Day for WDW.

Thanks for any help that you can give me.

From what I've heard, a bag is a bag - whether it's a camera bag or not. The "no bag" line is usually shorter, but we've never had a bad experience in the line. The security people have always worked fast when we've been there. It's really not a big deal.

There is usually no wait for no bags, but the bag check goes very fast. Even when it looks crowded it doesn't take all that long. In my opinion they are just unorganized, no specific lines just people herded towards the tables to be checked.

the security people are quick; it's really not a big deal at all...if u are worried about it holding you up just arrive a few minutes earlier than you planned too...however, remember it's for your safety and for everyone else's...i would personally rather wait in a security line for hours than to have something bad happen...

please don't encourge anyone to do this...it is trying to beat the security system that has been setup to protect you and me...the security lines for those with bags is really pretty quick and hasn't taken our family anymore then a couple of minutes to get thru...one thing you can do to speed up your trip thru the security line is to make sure that all the pockets and pouches are unzippered and open for inspection when you get to the table where they are checking...
have fun!!!!

Please don't take something that you shouldn't into the park. I was waiting at EPCOT to get in and the security was telling the person in front of me that they couldn't go into the park. They would either have to bring something back to their vehicle, car or rent a locker outside the park. I couldn't see what was in their bag but they couldn't go in.

All the parks have a no bag line except for EPCOT.

At the most when I walked up to every theme park I was the third person and went through with only a slight pause. Most of the time I walked right up, unzipped the pockets. they look things over with a bright flashlight and you're done.

The time it would take to rearrange everything into your pockets would be much longer.

This is absolutely nothing to stress over.

Have an excellent vacation!!

I was going to bring some snacks in, for my son - technically, I know we're not supposed to, but I also know that people do. Will this cause me to be stopped and turned away at security?

KC

Snacks are perfectly fine. I did the same thing my first trip and told my DH the gate, "Oh no, they're going to see my Cheetohs." He told me not to worry, as they weren't looking for Cheetohs. :)
Actually, you can bring food in. We bring a small cooler everytime with drinks, and I've always got lots of snacks in my back pack.

having returned a few weeks ago--the security lines are no big deal. The line for "no bags" had one or two people and they walked right in. The line for "bags" had many inspectors and it was organized and quick. Have your bags ready--unzipped;organized and not stuffed to the top. KC--snacks aren't a problem--don't fret! Sunking--Thanks --nobody should be trying to go into a line of "no bags" when they have stuff to be checked out. That would make me leary that they are trying to bring in something unlawful. Take the few extra minutes and do the right thing. Let's put into perspective. Let's be safe

We didn't have any problems going through the "bag check" lines. If you have a video camera in a bag, they do take a look at it so I would say yes you have to go through the line to have bags checked. I carried my backpack/purse to the parks every day. It has many pockets and they just sort of glanced in a few of them so it doesn't take much time to get through the line at all!

All I can say is I wish I was still there!!!

I have to take a big packpack filled with all kinds of medical stuff with me. So, during our last trip, I put everything into clear ziploc bags so I could just pull them out and the security guard could see at a glance exactly what was in them. I kept one bag for paper products like park maps, show times, gift certificates and so on, one for the bottled water and one big one for my medications and supplies. It really did speed things up and had the added bonus of making it MUCH easier for me to find everything more quickly(smile).

A bag is a bag. have you compartments open and ready to be checked when you are waiting in line, to make it go faster.

I don't understand why people complain about being inconvienenced for 40 seconds going into the parks, when the checks do help prevent crimes from happening there.

Maybe they can't prevent anything, but there is a lot they can prevent.

The lines feel a lot longer than they really are.

My guess would be glass bottles probably of liquor.

We had a security guard tell us at MVMCP as he was checking our cooler that they had to turn away several people who were bringing alcohol into the parks.
