Bag Check at Magic Kingdom and other parks

This doesn't really apply anymore. As @hiroMYhero pointed out, security has been moved and spread out. It's been really thought out and most ways to come in, it's a single line you go through. The only places with a large number of lines is ttc and that's been handled really well where you kind of just get off your tram and walk straight to the line in front of you. and buses it's angled in a way that you fan out naturally getting to them. it's no longer approaching lines from the side and walking around people to get a good line.
they did a great job at Magic Kingdom with security. The old way was a mess, now it's a breeze.

They just need to adjust where the AP line for tapstyle is. while useful for buses or walking, its not a good spot for ferry or monorail coming in all the way on the other side.

We just left WDW today after a 6 day stay. Most of the time bag check took 1-2 minutes (we utilized the resort monorail and International Gateway and those were great!) but twice, at the front entrance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, it took 10-20 minutes. Epcot was due to a large crowd (why don't they separate those who have already gone through bag check to get on the Monorail out of the bag check que?) and the second was due to an excruciatingly thorough security agent. Every other screener looked in bags, moved items around, felt around, etc. She literally removed guests items from the bags; the poor girl infront of me was visibly upset that her flip flops, change of clothes and other items had been pulled out, unrolled and then the agent made a laughing remark about having fun putting that back together.

I 1000% agree with this.

Anyone who hasn't been since the first week of April when the new MK setup was implemented really has no idea how things are now. Old experiences really don't apply much at all to the current setup.

I don't think they are done with changes, I agree epcot could use some work especially with 1 whole set of guests already having been through security in order to monorail it over. With the announce redoing of future world, and there's been a rumor all the leave a legacy monoliths are going to be removed soon I think we're going to see a major revamp to how the front of epcot is.

I was worried about my crossbody slowing us down this trip after reports on here, so much so that I actually almost went bagless. Glad I didn't...it was NOT a problem! We RD every day, some EMH mornings, some just regular open. We return to another park usually after 3 pm. Never had any back ups. Longest waits happened when the screener at the table we went to was one who was looking in every single pouch or compartment (not complaining as it is their job!). Still breezed through and never hindered our getting to where we wanted to at the time we had planned at any park.

Thinking about taking a fanny pack into the parks at the end of June. How long do you think it will take to get through bag check? I plan on doing rope drop most mornings.

Bag check is usually very fast. I'd plan for 5 minutes, max. I've only had it take longer than that one time, and that was on a holiday.
