I'm having enough trouble convincing DH to even go on a 3-day cruise and he asked what we'd do if it rained the whole time? Has anyone done the 3-day cruise with bad weathr the whole time? I'd hate to fork out all that cash and never dock. Is there any kind of Disney incentives to compensate for a really bad weather cruise? Just wondering.

I don't think they compensate you for inclement weather. They really can't control that. It would have to be really bad weather to prevent the ship from docking in Nassau. Less so for Castaway Cay.

While this could happen, it's probably no more likely to happen than if you went to Hawaii and it rained all the time. At least the ship can possibly sail out from under it.

Any bad weather day on vacation has to be better than a good weather day at work!! LOL

Nothing prettier than a rainy day at sea (seriously). On our last cruise one of our seas days it rained all day, and it was actually romantic. We sat out on Deck 4 for a while and watched it hit the water and the storm clouds in the distance. NOTHING like just a plain ordinary rain day at home!

Everything on a cruise (good or bad) looks better at sea!

I think the captain tries very hard to steer clear of bad weather while you are at sea. The sky looked pretty bad on one of our sea days, we went to a matinee of one of the shows, when we came out, it was beautiful!

I have heard that if the ship misses CC they sometimes offer free drinks and a bunch of fun programming.

Here's hoping for good weather for you!

Yes, that's true. One morning the captain steered us away from a thunderstorm and as we were slowly turning, the most beautiful rainbow appeared! It was around 6:30 in the morning and I was by myself out on the verandah. My kids weren't too happy about it, but I drug them out of bed to make sure they saw this once in a lifetime beauty!

Depending on the severity of the weather, the Captain does makes decision on alterating the itinerary. For instance, When i took the 7 Day Eastern carrib. Cruise back in Oct '01 , there was a hurricane going on near St. Maartin, which was one of the ports to stop at, but it was rumored that the hurricane was going to come up and hit the Bahamas area few days later. The Captain made a decision to go to CC first, instead of the last day, which is was a beautiful day and we also ended up in Puerto Rico instead of St. Maartin which was great also. Later on that week, the hurricane never did hit Bahamas, (went down further instead of up) the Captain allowed us to go back to CC again!!! We had the best time considering we went to PR and then CC twice!!!

You have 3 consecutive days of rain in the Caribbean on a ship you will be in the record books. It won't happen. We had rain for about 10-15 mins in St. Maarten in the afternoon. That was all we saw all week. :umbrella:

Thanks for your reassurance! I was just wondering what would happen if you missed both ports of call. Hubby was concerned we'd be stuck like we were on a recent shore vacation.
