Bad weather/tropical storm

Yes, hoping for all the best for all of our friends down that way, and for all those whose travel plans might be affected.

I'm actually in nyc this week so I'm missing the fun. My daughter is holding down the fort and it sounds like just heavy rain is expected/happening with a little heavier winds.
Yes! I completely forgot that you'd said you'd be in NYC this week. My bad.
Well I hope your family is ok down there!

Rainy and windy here.

Not much else expected for this area.

You can always just put this picture in your head to remove the rainy weather from your mind...

hows things going there?
Right now (about 5:30 pm on Monday) its pretty much just a steady rain. Not a lot of wind and the rain isn't that heavy. Expecting the rain to get heavier as the evening progresses and the winds to pickup.

Further update at 7:15 pm Monday. Still nothing to really report. Only 0.6 inch of rain thus far today. Right now its not raining at all.

The pics people are posting in the DISboards group on Facebook (and/or the Disney dorks one) look like there's a heap of rain, glad to hear it's not that bad!

Thanks for the updates Jeff!

...and of course as soon as I posted that it started to rain here. Still just a steady rain, not a tropical storm kind of thing.

Lol!!! The track is north!! And it's a weak tropical storm!!
Why is everyone thinking we are getting pummeled by a cat 5 ???

I don't think it's that as much as expressing concern about friends here that we care about, making sure everybody is okay, since we are nowhere near to see for ourselves. Especially Jes, who's in Australia, who started this thread. I think it's pretty daggone sweet actually. I know I DEFINITELY appreciated being "checked on" (even from far away) this past winter when a few blizzards hit the NorthEast. And especially when you live alone.

Okay, but really just a quick glance at TWC to see the storm track....

Not going to debate, or conjecture if they even have "US Weather Channel" in Australia. Like I said, I personally think it's sweet, makes this place feel even more like a community. I'm done.

Okay... Whatever. One thread actually had someone asking if they should evacuate their rooms. Oh the hysteria... The problem is because of times like this it's underestimated when it really IS needed.

I used to live in Connecticut. People would wipe the grocery store shelves clean of bread and water for two inches of snow. There were NO batteries or flashlights available in the entire state.

As someone who worked in emergency management for over 20 years, I can certainly appreciate what you're saying.
