Bad vacations at Disneyland

Inspired by another thread, and by my own experience, I was wondering who else had bad trips and what happened?

On our very first morning of our last trip a few weeks ago, I slipped on a rain slicked sidewalk outside of the Disneyland hotel. I spent the next 4 days limping around with a swollen, painful knee. On the last 2 days, the foot on the leg with the injured knee also swelled really bad!

Never heard a word from Disney, even though they had security there and brought a nurse over. That kinda frustrated me. I wish they would have at least checked to see how I was doing, especially since they had my name, cell phone # AND room number.

Everyone was so kind though, all of the other people headed to the parks who helped me. :goodvibes

That was a bad trip for me! (no pun intended, lol) I spent a lot of time sitting on benches resting the knee while Dh took the kids on rides.

I'm sorry that happened, though I'm not sure what you would have wanted from Disney (besides perhaps to check on you?) Rain & wet sidewalks are sort of one of those things that you can't do much about. Sure, snow and ice you can remove and put sand down, but there's not a whole lot you can do about wet sidewalks.

As this is the board to help plan for DL trips, not complain about them, I hope this doesn't turn into a bash DL thread.

I am sorry you fell down. It sounds like it hurt a lot.

I think my most disappointing trip to Disneyland was still wonderful, just not up to the usual standard. I went in the 90s during the bad patch and several things were disappointing, but when they changed up the management everything went back to normal- which for Disney is amazing. :flower3:

I had a horrible trip last weekend... but it was totally not Disney's fault. It was supposed to be my DD8s Birthday weekend- just me, her and her BFF. Well, turns out her BFF wasn't really ready to travel away from her family even for a few days (we have known her and her family since both girls were 3months old and my DD has traveled with them before). She was miserable and made the rest of us miserable too..really ruined the special weekend I had set up :( We even went home early because of her.

I know what's done is done but I'm still bummed about the trip a week later. Trying to figure out how soon I can get DD and I back for a make up trip. :)

Make up trips rule! Our last trip was a make up and despite me having a panic attack in the middle of main Street, the mess that Disney made of the 24 hour event and DH having a grand mal seizure on the way home, it was still wonderful!

Okay... reading that it sounds worse than I remember it being... Maybe I *do* have Disneygoggles... :rotfl:

Out of our many DL trips we have had 2 bad ones. Neither was Disney's fault. In fact the last was beyond anything we could have done to fix it. We were there for Mothers Day this year and I spent my time mothering a sick family. :( Not going to say anything about that because it's done and there wasn't a thing I or Disney could have done to fix it.

Now our second trip back in 2009 that sucked due to our lack of planning and knowledge of the area. We had just stayed a few months prior at the GCH so we decided to do a real budget trip. We stayed at the Holiday Inn (because someone I worked with said it was walking distance). Horrible location... took a long shuttle ride, stopping at several closer hotels to get to the park. There were large groups of teenagers doing some kind of church thing staying there. They would sit in the hallways of the hotel singing and playing the guitar until midnight. The hotel staff seemed bothered by us when we complained. The parks had short hours because it was "slow" season. I didn't pack in extra clothes to the parks, and my daughter spilt milkshake all down the front of her. She cried until we went back to the hotel, which was such a pain we decided just to swim the rest of the day. Then the pool was packed with unsupervised teens that paid little attention to the small girls, scaring the heck out of them with their splashing.
I could go on... but I will just say this... had that been my only view of Disneyland we would not have gone back.

Luckily we had already purchased our first annual passes and I learned enough from that to choose better hotels.
We now have stayed at all 3 DLR hotels several times and the Hilton. I am a true hotel snob and not ashamed of it.
Give me the Grand or leave me home please. :)
