Bad Rooms at GF?

We have been thinking of really splurging on the GF for a trip in May. I have been reading and learning so much on this board. (I'm new! This is getting to be a bad habit- I've been exhausted at work each morning!)

After reading a lot of different things, I'm concerned. Can you get a regular room in the main building? Are the other buildings not as nice? Are the other buildings okay? Thanks for your input.

Personally, I would not prefer a room in the main building. I would want one near the marina or beach.

We stayed in Conch Key. It was a perfect location because it was right next to the marina and the Seven Seas Lagoon. We had a garden view room but had somewhat of a lagoon view! The Grand Floridian is my absolute favorite and will never stay anywhere else. You're making a great choice by staying at the GF!

There are no regular rooms in the main building. It's reserved for concierge and honeymoon suites. The same goes for SugarLoaf which houses it's lodge concierge rooms.

All the other buildings are beautiful. You walk into a lovely lobby area, with rooms to your right and left. I'm pretty sure that in the morning, they have coffee service now in all the buildings. Each building has it's own unique feature on the property as to views and location. SagoCay and ConchKey are probably the 2 quietest buildings. SagoCay is closest to the main building. Boca Chica and Big Pine Key are very conveniently located on the property and will put you right between the 2 pools. Garden view rooms can be just as lovely as lagoon view and you will actually see the garden and not parking lots.

Have you checked out the photos on the Our Laughing Place website? If you want, just follow this GF Link to see them. They have 85 pictures and include rooms and lobby entrances from some of the buildings. The 360 degree views are also nice to see. They show the concierge lounge in the main building (if you really wanted to splurge), some restaurants and the Conch Key lobby. You'll see they have chairs and fresh flowers set up.

We've never stayed in the main building (it's concierge only). SO fare we've only stayed in garden view rooms and were never disappointed. We always asked for and received Sago Cay building, marina view. It's so relaxing and peaceful there with a lovely view of the marina. This year we are splurging and going for a lagoon view, but we're still hoping to be in Sag Cay.
