I have to be very careful with rides. I have bad neck, residual from a car accident. Which rides would you suggest I definitely avoid? Thanks!

Avoid the coasters, Spiderman, Dudley Do-Right, FJ, perhaps even Cat in the Hat because it has some sudden spins. Mummy, Men in Black because of spinning again and Rip Ride Rockit.

Mummy
Simpsons
MIB
Disaster
Rip Ride Rockit
Hulk
Dragon Challenge
Spiderman
Forbidden Journey

Pretty much all of them.

Well, that really sucks. It seems like there are so many more rides for me at Disney. Universal is really all about the thrill rides.

I was considering Forbidden Journey and thought for sure I could do the Simpsons. :confused3

Looks like DS will be doing a lot of single rider lines, since we're on our own the first two days.

I have a bad back that was injured in 2009. I have not been back to the parks since then. We are going in May for a week (my wife is going crazy without a vacation) and I'm going to try all of them again. I'm prepared by bringing my pain meds just incase. Almost all rides between all parks say you should not ride with certain health problems. Only you can judge how you feel before, after the ride and whether you should go at all.:thumbsup2

The last part of the attraction has some jolts and bumps that can be rough.

I think I'll give it a shot. I can do Dinosaur at AK and Indiana Jones at DLR. Both pretty jolty. I just can't do roller coasters and rides with big drops like Splash. It looks like there are a few big drops at Universal. The last time I did Splash I had to lie flat the whole next day. Not cool.

So Forbidden Journey is a no?

If you can do Dinosaur then you will be fine on Disaster. You may actually be OK on several I listed, including the Simpsons. FJ should be OK if you can do Dinosaur. Skip Jurassic Park though because it has a big drop like Splash at the end.

Oh ya, if you can do Dinosaur then you can do lots of stuff. Leave out all the coasters, Dudley do right and Jurassic Park. FJ is actually smooth but there is a lot of movement.

I'm sorry you have neck problems. That has to be very difficult.

I would stay away from Dr. Dooms Fear Fall. My MIL was on that ride and when it went up it snapped her neck back and broke her necklace from the force. I don't have neck problems and I won't get on it again, lol.

It's interesting you mention that story. My original neck injury is from 1995, when my little Hyundai Excel was smashed to smithereens by an 18-wheeler. Lucky to be alive.

My neck did surprisingly well for many years, until I went on the Atlantis ride at Sea World San Diego. The ride went up with such force, my head flung backwards, I heard my neck snap and everything else is like a dream sequence. I spent many days following not able to move my head side to side. It was much like the weeks just after my accident.

My DS is a ride junkie. I really wish I could share that with him. :(

I've had two surgeries on my neck and I do stay away from some rides when my neck is bothering me. Jimmy Neutron and Shrek 4-D I sit in the non-motion seats while the rest of the group rides the motion part of the ride. I rode the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit once and will not do it again,to bouncy for me. I love the Hulk and Dragon Challenge. When I do decide to ride a coaster I always put my head back against the headrest through the whole ride. I also do the same in the Mummy especially when the ride goes backwards after the beetle part of the ride. I rode the Dr. Doom Freefall once and will NEVER ride it again. The force of that ride going up is wayyyy to much on my neck. MIB, Dr. Seuss, FJ and Simpson are rides I have no problem with. Spiderman is a bit bouncy so it depends on how I feel if I ride it or not. Flight of the Hippogriff is a really short roller coaster ride that is worth riding. Dudley Do Right and Ripsaw Falls I have no interest in so I skip them. Hope this helps you out :)

So, you're ok on FJ?? I REALLY want to ride this with my son. I'm on the fence.

I have neck and back issues. I can NOT ride Dinosaur, but I ride the coasters at IOA with no problem. Hulk is rougher than the Dragons, but I just keep my head back against the headrest.

Yes I'm OK with riding FJ. This ride is a must do.:thumbsup2 It's a mix of Soarin' and the Spiderman ride but less bumpy. If your can ride the Dinosaur ride (which I don't too bumpy for me) you'll have no problem with this ride.
