Sunday 23rd October
Tony and I went to Lumieres for breakfast. I asked for an express which should have been bacon, eggs, sausage and hash browns but they got my order wrong and I ended up with a very strange baked bean and bacon omelette which came perched on a piece of toast. Tony adventurously ordered the pineapple and toast stack which he didnt much like either as the pineapple made the toast very soggy. To be fair, neither of us was particularly hungry, having eaten so much yesterday. We walked up to Topsiders to view the breakfasts there and it looked very nice so we decided to go there in future. We met the others getting their breakfast while we were there.
After breakfast Tony and I went up to deck 9 and found some loungers in a sheltered spot as although it was warm and sunny, it was also very windy today. In fact when we had a walk around the ship it was so gusty at the front of the ship I really thought we might get blown straight over the side!
We had a wander around the ship and took some photos:
Me in a porthole:
The Lobby
Someone's very decorated door:
We met up with the others for lunch at Parrot Cay where an Asian buffet was being served. We helped ourselves to heaps of course and it was all very nice.
After lunch, Joh and Gary took Daniel to the kids club and went to the Martini tasting with their friends, Char, Nate and Dorothy.
Joh got picked to make one of the larger martinis, A classic Cosmopolitan which, luckily, is her favourite.
Despite the teeny-tiny servings, they managed to get a bit merry.
Afterwards, they got chatting to some other DISers but eventually got asked to leave as the crew needed to set up for the tequila tasting.
The afternoon was spent sunbathing and reading and then at 6 we all met at the theatre to watch this evenings show Twice Charmed, a variation of the Cinderella Story where both glass slippers are broken. I loved this show, in fact in was my favourite one.
After that, it was time to get ready for our dinner at Palo. The boys and Ellie ate earlier then happily scooted off to the kids clubs.
Palo is an extra $20 each to book and is adults only so offers a much quieter dining experience.
We started with anti-pasti a selection of breads, cold meats, cheeses etc.
Then our appetisers:
I had mushrooms and polenta which was lovely. It looks a bit of a weird colour in this photo but honestly it really was delicious!
Tony's Sicilian Shrimp:
Our entrees:
My Lobster and Mascarpone Pasta which was creamy and delicious:
Tony had steak tenderloin but they made a mistake with the order and cooked it well-done instead of medium-rare so they had to do it again for him. It came back perfect though. Nat and Joh both had steak too and Gary had the sea-bass.
The steak:
The Sea Bass:
For desserts, we all ordered two each!
Most of us chose the famous chocolate soufflé where the server bashes a hole in the middle and pours in hot chocolate and vanilla sauces! Rich and delicious!
I also has panne cotte with strawberry and basil sorbet unusual but nice:
The others also tried apple crostini, tiramisu and pistachio cake.
Lemon sorbet was served between courses and we were also given a strange lemony, milky liqueur thing afterwards which we didnt much like.
It was a really lovely meal.
After dinner, we managed to waddle to the Promenade Lounge and joined in with the last half of the Disney music quiz before bed.
In all, a lovely relaxing day at sea.
Tomorrow: Our 2nd "At Sea" day and Palo brunch
