I took my kids to the Doctor today, Of course all 4 are sick and we leave in 4 days:rolleyes: Thats not the issue though, My pediatricians are a husband and wife team. Who spent last week in Disney. For years I have been pushing DVC to them and about 2 years ago they took the tour. well this time they stayed at Beach Club, And I assuming the guide was out of there? I guess they requested some info and they did not want to give it minus the tour. Well I guess they said no thanks this is our last day and we are just hanging out and we have done the tour before. They of course said yes, But let us show you SSR. They again said no thanks...
Whats is upsetting to me is it seems they were given alot of misinformation.... They are having trouble with the concept of no set week and how will they be sure to get a week when they want. I tried to explain well they can, for instance my trip for this week was planned at my home resort last February, No problem. However if I had tried in September It was full for December. They said thier salesperson told them he would commit in writing that they would always have a room somewhere on property. I said yes, there will always be rooms if you are well enough in advance, not last minute. And they are insistent he said there is enough inventory now that there will always be a room.
Ok, folks unless I am missing something here? they were very misled. I ended up giving them the direct number to my guide and hope they can get a better assement of DVC. Does anyone know why you are not allowed to take the materials home to look over? I thought that was odd it really leaves a rather bad impression. Am I wrong here to be annoyed at this guide?

no - definitely bad information - because he is only saying a room - I see this as a WDW resort room - now a DVC resort villa - there is a definite difference.

most of the time even when DVC is sold out - there is a room somewhere on WDW property that MS might be able to find for you.

but if they were expecting to stay at a DVC villa in a 1 or 2 bedroom for their vacation - they would have been disappointed.

I did not think they had these pressure type of salespeople at DVC...maybe we just got lucky with Byron

Since DVC sells the inventory completely there is no way anyone should guarantee a room at any time....

thanks

If the only person they spoke with was at the model at BCV, they did not speak with a DVC guide. Those at the kiosks and BCV model are not licensed brokers and cannot sell a DVC contract. They can answer basic questions and describe how the program generally works, but are not legally allowed to go further.

The actual tour is very specific about providing information about the point system and the flexibility it brings to DVC. The kiosk/BCV model attendants don't even have the program information brochures to give out- that comes from the guides at the preview Center, so I;m not surprised they couldn't get any information without talking to a guide.

If they know the name of the person they spoke with and can get that written assurance, they should definitely try to do so. That would make for an interesting conversation with MS in the future.

Most of the guides are pretty honest. But just like in anything else.......there may be 1 bad apple.

P.S. I hope Richyams doesn't see this thread.

I always try to see the best in people. Thier take on the conversation was frustrating to me.
DOC I did not know that they were not official guides there. I also forgot to say they said somthing about the SSR points back program, And how they could use it for a cruise. I told them the money incentive would go farther if they were to use it for the cruise. They were just soooo confused.

Spiceycat. You know I never thought about the ROOM, That he was saying. You are probably correct, Maybe he was saying a room at a hotel with reservation points? However I assure you that they took it as a 2 bedroom in DVC.

One more question do we now get a 10% discount on passes? Is this a new perk?

There is a 10% discount on Ultimate Park Hoppers (aka Length of Stay Passes)

Hope your kids feel better for your expedition

thanks

If this is the same person, an older woman, blond/gray hair, she was rude to me and my husband and to many other people. She did not want to show us the BCV model rooms and when I asked questions, before buying, she told me I was stupid (her exact words) not to buy when I come so often.

If it wasn't for Byron we would never have purchased. She is not what you need to meet when looking at DVC. Especially at a deluxe resort where people are more willing to look.

There could be more to this situation then you are being told-like the MD's are really not that interested in buying into DVC for whatever reason. That would be my guess. My advice would be to forget the whole thing with them and just let them take the lead. If they are interested they will ask you. That is just a thought.

As for taking material home, you are lucky if you live in a state that you can buy from Disney. I live in Washington and the guides can't even talk to me about adding on because they don't have a license to sell in Washington. It depends on where you live...

I am not sure the DVC Cast Member is entirely to blame here. It sounds like your MDs tried to figure this out in a five minute conversation and could easily be confused. I have taked to these kiosk people bunches of times and never heard them say anything about committment in writing. All they do is try to steer people towards the tour so........things could just be confused in the translation. The room vs. Villa thing is a prime example. Your friend took it to mean what he/she wanted!

I agree with Pa. Step back. It is their call and if they want to talk to your guide they will.

Actually according to them they have taken the full tour twice now. and have not made the commitment. They are now ready as they now have 3 teens. who as we all know don't want to stay in a hotel room with mom and dad for a week.
This last vist was $289 per night for one room at Beach Club. And they started talking about in the future 2 rooms. For $600 a night it certainly merits DVC is a good investment for them. I have recommended DVC to them on the basis of being asked by them. I do know they also priced out Thanksgiving week somewhere at another timeshare in Orlando. At 15,000 a week. I am not sure where but I know they were also looking into that. Ultimately they canned that due to the fact of wanting to stay onsite.
It seems to be they got a spiel and not a very accurate one at that. I like my guide and have passed his info on to them.:chat:

said thier salesperson told them he would commit in writing that they would always have a room somewhere on property.

well, yeah, *somewhere* on property you technically could find most any week, though probably not new years or something like that - but if the dvc's are booked solid, the deluxes or moderates probably have a room they will book on points - a lot more points than one would like to spend probably, too.
