We have stayed in 2 moderates out of 11 onsite resorts and I have been disappointed by both. Not because of lack of amenities but because of cleanliness. Last trip we stayed 1 night at POR in a royal room and it was disgusting. The mattress was broken and sagged down on the side. Glitter all over the bed from the princess before us. Boogers on the wall. I just don't get why we have to waste our precious park time dealing with this stuff when we pay a lot for these rooms. I've never considered staying offsite because of the convenience. But this next trip we will be going with DH work for a conference and will be staying offsite for the first 4 days. The two resorts I'm referring to have very good ratings on dis fan sites. As much as I love the Disney experience I am so close to moving offsite so I can afford more days and have a cleaner room. Anyone else feel this way?

Sorry you had a bad experience. :flower3:

We experienced some cleanliness issues at CBR back in 2011, and as it was our first time in a mod, I wasn't in a hurry to go back to one. (Funny, we had great experiences in the values that we had stayed at).

So, after a few great deluxe stays, I stayed at POFQ this past September. I was a bit apprehensive but honestly the resort was wonderful! The room was immaculate and I am pretty picky about that stuff.

I think you can experience a bad room in any level, and it sounds like you've gotten unlucky.

Hope you find something that works for you. :goodvibes

Which building were you in, and do you think your check-in time made any difference (maybe they were rushed in getting the room ready?)

We've a POR Royal booked for April for first WDW visit - I want it all to be awesome for my DD, so want to know what to look for.

I think we pay alot for staying n Disney and yes sometimes the rooms are not as clean as I would make it. I always go over stuff with lysol wipes. I have to comment on the glitter. I do daycare and have several Disney dresses. The worst one is Merida's. I have glitter all over my house from that dress. It does not just vacuum up. I guess I will have glitter around my house for many years to come!:)

I had to laugh at this, because, having two girls.....our house is constantly covered in glitter...the floor, the couch, the cats....no matter how much we vacuum, there is always a trail of glitter where our girls have been. :rotfl:

::yes::

My house has glitter trails all over. Living room, dining room, DD's bedroom, DD's hair and clothes, my hair and clothes. DD has a bunch of those Disney Toddler dolls and Merida's dress is a glitter nightmare.

Unfortunately, this same complaint could be for any of Disney's resorts, or any resort/hotel anywhere. We stayed at BC a while back and we had a terrible time getting someone to clean our room. We came back to the room at 10PM on our first full day, and no one had been there to do anything. I called mousekeeping to complain, they brought us clean towels and said it would not happen again. Next day, after a long day at MK, we arrived back after midnight, and our room not been touched. I called the front desk this time and talked to the night manager, who sent someone up to look at the room and bring more towels. After a third day of no cleaning I'd had it, and talked with the manager of BC. He was appalled, and made sure our room was spotless the rest of the trip. I think a lot depends on who you're lucky (or unlucky) enough to get to clean your room. :sad2:

These issues can happen anywhere. Doesn't matter the hotel, doesn't matter the level. It can still happen.

My DD didn't notice the issues like I did. I wouldn't worry. It was a busy time of year (July). DD loved the room. And we had just finished a wonderful stay at Kidani. It was our last night and it was between royal room and pop. Next time I'll probably not waste the money for the moderate. I am just frustrated that this is acceptable at the rates we have to pay. I am not expecting perfection. Just a clean room without having to waste all that time dealing with something that should already be done. You get what you pay for should be the case but it's not.

I know that this happens everywhere at all levels. I just think that we are paying so much for these rooms they should be clean. Missing that Disney touch.

sorry to hear that. I hope Disney took care of everything....switched rooms or cleaned the room thoroughly for you. I agree...having to deal with issues when you want to be enjoying vacation is no fun.

we have never stayed at a moderate so i could be off here but it seems to me that mousekeeping can be hit or miss at any given disney resort. Even so on different days over the same trip when you're seeing the same exact mousekeepers!

I have to say we stay at A LOT of high end hotels all over the place. while I'm sure housekeeping issues do happen at all hotels we've never had an issue that i can recall with a high end hotel on other types of vacations. We have had to make calls requesting our room be cleaned or request turn down more then i'd like to at the disney resorts. We've never stayed offsite in orlando but I'm inclined to believe that maybe this is a product of how busy the area is and how much the rooms must get used. As well as just how many rooms there are.

I do realize as well that the disney deluxe resorts are not ritz carltons or four seasons. Although I will say that for what we've paid to stay poly cl tpv or gf rpc even with a military or ap discount the cost has been about twice or maybe even more than the cost to stay in a concierge level room at a certain high end resort my husband and I love because we were married there (and i'm not including any package costs).

we love disney and obviously continue to voluntarily pay the prices to stay at these resorts knowing what we are getting for our $$ and we enjoy ourselves. not complaining...simply stating our observations. :)

I have a son. Who is in a dance company with mainly girls. Even I have glitter.

But! Glitter on a bed that should have been freshly made = I'm calling housekeeping. And I'll point out the gross wall.

The wall I'm more easy to forgive because that's not a normal place for housekeeping to look or clean. They work hard and fast. But glitter on what should be a newly made bed is not a good sign.

Hoping maintenance brought a new mattress too. Though for me it would be a problem because of off gassing of the new one.

Very true. I never had an issue when I stayed at The Ritz Carlton, Peabody, etc.. especially mold, rust, etc..

I agree with the PP who said you've been unlucky. I know it sucks, we had a problem with our room at the BC last September. For what it's worth, I've stayed at POR four or five times in the past few years, and we haven't had any cleanliness issues. If you're ever not satisfied with a room though, you can ask them to move you, and if that's not possible, try to get out of your reservation. I did this at All Star Music about three years ago -- among a few other things, there were hairs in the bathroom, which is something that freaks me out, especially when it doesn't look like the hair from someone's head, if you know what I mean. When they told us they were all booked and a move wasn't possible, we wound up getting a refund and had an easy time getting an off-site room at a Downtown Disney hotel. I would give it another chance, or just go with your gut and stay offsite, whatever makes you happy :)

You just can't usually see it. The maids simply don't have time to be thorough.

I have found that hotel rooms sometimes aren't cleaned as well as they should be. It shows up when it is something that you can see. The take home message to me is to remember that you can't see all dirt and to wash things before you use them in a hotel room. You don't know who was there before you and what their habits are.

I was recently in BWI at CL and was late getting the room because it wasn't ready. When it was finally ready (after 6:00 pm), I noticed that the waste basket hadn't been emptied. Not a big problem, but not what you expect at this level. However, a little later I found an unflushed toilet (obviously NOT cleaned) in the bathroom. It was late and I had lysol wipes at the ready to clean anyway, so I cleaned it up myself, but it just goes to show that things get missed at all levels.

They apparently had trouble getting the last guest out of the room. Unfortunately, I think that I know why! LOL!

I stayed at POFQ a few months ago and overall the room was in great condition and clean but there was dust covering the desk behind the TV and also dust covering the night stand behind the alarm clock. Nothing major or disgusting and had I not been "sanitizing" my room with lysol wipes I may not have even noticed but still a bit disappointing at that price.

I can't wait to go back to WDW though and POFQ is one of the reasons, I absolutely loved the resort.

Our most recent stay at CSR I think fell into the category of what the OP is talking about.

We checked into our room in 6B to find no extra TP in the room and the roll on the spool was already started and there was a nice sized area of hair behind the bathroom door plus two of the handles on the dresser were broken.

It was after 9pm on day one when I called for TP and the hair to get cleaned up and of course no one ever came.

Day two in the morning before we left for HS I called for the same thing and when we came back around 8pm we had four extra rolls of TP but the hair was still there and our bath towels were missing plus the dresser handles were still broken. I flagged down a cast member in a golf cart and asked him about bath towels and the hair and he said that he would get me the towels but that he would have to inform housekeeping about getting the hair. He brought the towels at some point (we were at the pool) but no one ever came to clean up the hair.

In the end, the hair never got cleaned up nor did the dresser handles get fixed and we only put up the privacy please sign on our door two of the seven nights we were there. Of course complaining to Disney is an exercise in futility because while everyone "apologizes" their hands were always tied due to being sold out because of a large convention or if I wanted to speak someone in higher management I had to make myself available during bankers hours which of course kind of puts a bit of a drag on whatever your plan was for park touring that day.

We’ve done two stays at WL and two at CSR and the drop off in terms of quality both in the staff and in the amenities is at least to me really steep. If/when we go back either we’re saving for a Deluxe of we’re staying off site.
