Bad experience at Caribbean Beach?

We stayed in April and loved it. I stayed in 3 different resorts and this one was they one we where least looking forward to and its was only the sale price we got stopped us from switching. But after trip it was our favourite of the 3 we stayed. Was very clean. Food was good. Kids loved the pool. Transport was good

That story , if true, seems horrific. Can’t tell from the pics if they are in Caribbean beach rooms. Exposed wiring? Seems too ridiculous to have all of what they claim wrong. My radar says that story is false or misleading but we will see....

Do I believe that a dead cockroach and a used condom could be left behind in a room? Sure. The cockroach kind of matches the carpet and it looks like the condom maybe slipped under the mattress behind the bed, based on the picture anyways. It doesn’t look like it was on the bed.

Gross. Yes. Newsworthy. No.

FWIW, I strip the beds and bring a flashlight to check for bedbugs at every hotel I go to. Even the “cleanest” hotels have dust, dirt and often other assorted items (mostly food, like Cheerios) are found when you really start to look.

The response from Disney was appropriate...the account was likely exaggerated but Disney played it right moving them. Why on EARTH is this a news story though? Hotel room dirty...guest upgraded to deluxe resort. That's news?? It happens every day around the world. I just hope it doesn't inspire lunatics out there to start fabricating dirty rooms to get an upgrade.

Disney’s response:"While we believe the guest claims were exaggerated, we took several steps to enhance their vacation."

The Mirror? Pseudo “celebrity” couple?

I’m not saying Disney is always perfect, but in this particular case whatever happened, if anything, was definitely exaggerated. It wouldn’t even surprise me if it turned out the whole thing was staged to get free upgrades and Internet notoriety. (Sad to say, but people do that kind of thing). I mean, why go to The Mirror at all?

Story in a Tabloid. I say BS. Disney simply wouldn’t have that amount of dirt or exposed wiring in a room. I think it’s highly exaggerated.
It is possible you can get a room not properly cleaned at Disney or any hotel. We did once by mistake. Housekeeper didn’t understand room was to be cleaned for a new guest. We found papers, hair ties, water bottle, etc from previous guest on the dresser, carpet wasn’t vacuumed and hair in bathroom.
We were moved to another room.

I doubt any room at Disney could be that bad. And CBR pirate room is definitely not 400£.
But it’s a tabloid similar to National Enquirer. Not exactly known for truthful reporting.

Send them down to Kissimmee area hotels and then you will see some disgusting rooms.

From the article:

~Now the family have been moved to Disney's lavish, bayside Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.~

~A Disney spokeswoman said: "This family has received compensation from us numerous times over the past five years, and they continue to return.~

Seems to me they are professional “complain for an upgrade” artists.

What they encountered, if accurate, is definitely not acceptable and I would have asked for a new room as well. But given they were moved, new complaints, moved again to GF it seems Disney did right by the family so I’m not sure why this story went to the “news”.

You can come across any or all of these issues at ANY resort. How the company deals with it is what they should be judged on and IMO Disney went above and beyond.

What I get from this is some people are disgusting slobs. Is it the job of Mousekeeping to take the beds apart to see if people have just left their used condoms on the bed and they fell down behind the mattress? Is that what these people do in their own beds? Gross.

But I agree, how did this become a news article?

regarding bolded:

That's pretty much all we need to know as to the validity of their complaints.

Because the couple in the subject crave the attention of the news.

Disney would never, ever say anything like that. That quote has to be 100% fabricated.

The photographs are also extremely close up. The exposed wiring does look bad and it looks like a pirate bed. However, I doubt there are many hotel rooms anywhere (except newly opened) where you couldn't find dirty stuff or things in need of repair if you photograph behind furniture in every dark corner of the room.
