Sorry, off topic, Indianadisneyfan, you have a gorgeous photo in your signature with a bridge. Where, at POR, is this bridge? Thanks, tink

We had a situation last summer that wasn't a big deal but certainly could have been.

We were a party of 5 on DDP. At Boma I had ONE drink, that after the DDE discount was about $6. I left $10 in cash to cover it and we left. On check-out day there was a $10 charge on our room! I went to the front desk (we were staying at AKL) and the girl said she couldn't take the charge off. So I went down to Boma and got a manager. I explained to her that even if they added a gratuity to that drink there was NO WAY to make it cost $10, and that was the amount of CASH I left for the drink. I couldn't find my receipt (that was the ONLY receipt I couldn't find) but the manager did refund my $10 before I left the hotel.

After that DH and I were discussing it. If you pay with cash and walk out the server can basically pocket the cash and charge your room for the entire cost of your meal!:scared1: Nobody gets a receipt from a restaurant showing that they paid cash unless it is CS! That experience made us decide to charge 100% of our stuff back to the room so we can look at the charges before we pay for it. I go down every other day or so with a Disney gift card and pay the room charges. Of course that backfired in February because they charged it all onto my credit card even though I said not to, I wanted to pay with the gift card. They fixed it, but I wasn't very happy.:sad2:

OP - I hope you get it all worked out!:wizard:

OP I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this. How stressfull!!!

We have never used the room key as a charge before and were going to try it for our upcoming trip next week. To be honest with you... after reading a lot of the posts on this thread, I am actually a little afraid to do this now.

I just spoke with my credit card company - they advised it will be difficult to fight as there is no cash receipt. She did indicate that she has requested all of the info from Disney already. They (VISA) can not have the security tapes pulled, she advised that she thought only law enforcement can do that. She did suggest that I contact the Florida Attorney General and the BBB.

Thanks for all your suggestions - I'll keep you updated. And please always remember to get a CORRECT receipt. This may turn out to be an expensive lesson for us.

Even though they can't pull the security tapes, you can advise them that you want them preserved for anticipated litigation. They have a good faith duty to preserve them until this issue is sorted out. Otherwise, they can conveniently state they were taped over.

That was my thought as well. A Radisson charged me for my room, then charged the person behind me in line's room onto my card as well. I didn't know it until I got home and later got the cc bill. I disputed the charge with my cc company (Chase). They removed the charge pending the investigation, and told me that the charge would ONLY be put back onto my account if Radisson provided them with my signature for that second room. Obviously, Radisson couldn't do so (I had signed for my own room & walked away). To this day, I don't know how that other room was finally paid for, I just know I didn't pay for it.

I am just curious ...was this the Radisson Celebration? I had booked a room with Radisson near WDW and we then decided to stay on grounds. I called and cancelled the room. the next credit card bill after our vacation was over $1000 charge for our non stay at Radisson. Talk about getting worked up. After a few phone call, an auditor ( I believe) called and said we creditted you account $100 some odd and we are good....I was literaly yelling at her. They finally found the problem- computer gllich on their end when the room was originallly book ( really? Hummm I wonder??) two rooms were booked- my email showed just one...

Thanks tinkerbellmagic I know this is sad to say :sad2: But I don't remember where I took it. I think I took it around Canada. It's bad to be 38 and already loosing my mind. I have another one with my girlfriend in it, she is standing in front of Victoria garden that is where the other pic is taken.

Internet CC charges fall in a different category. As the company cannot require a signature, this is why the now ask for the security pins (last 2 digits on the back of the card), to prove that the card holder is holding the card in his/her posession.

Sure, some merchants do this. However, a person having my card information does not mean that it is still not stolen information or being used in an unauthorized manner. I make plenty of CC charges online or on the phone for myself and the company I work for and honestly, only about 25% of the time am I asked for the numbers on the back of the card. Disney did not ask me for this number. Disney did not send me a receipt (only online confirmation which isn't enough information to confirm the cc charge). It could be anyone making the purchase and not me. I would only know when I get my bill that month or check my account online to see if there any charges I did not make. I also think it is mostly VISA that requires the code.

If I'm not mistaken I think most of the time the cc systems validate the address (zip) or phone you give them. But again, anyone that has my card number could have my address or phone.

Overall, my earlier point was that you do not always have to sign for a merchant to enter a charge on a cc number they have. I think that has pretty much been proven by people who have experienced it first hand. Its up to you to dispute any charges you didn't make, which is the risk of having a credit card. Each merchant has their own policies and some cc card companies have different policies. Your signature protects them.
Signing at most hotels is on their paperwork and is not electronic. Either way, this is for the merchant's records only so they have record you did make the purchase.

I'm sure when you order online it "notes" it. Neither of these processes means that a charge made wasn't done incorrectly or unauthorized.
It happens every day. Why do you think the cc companys constantly try to sell you extra fraud protection??? They know its not 100% fool proof or secure and try to get the consumer to pay extra and make even more money off of you through fear.

I use cash whenever I can!!!!

I've been following this thread and it really makes aware that I need to pay attention to what happens with what I spend on our upcoming trip! Can most of you say that you have put your trip on a cc and NOT had any problems? I'm just trying to make sure I understand what it is that people do to cause these issues...seems to me it's the simple act of using a cc in the first place!!

Thats what I've been trying to point out the whole time!!! :rotfl2:

After reading these posts & hearing about other peoples problems, credit cards scare me!!!!! :scared1:

to the OP: I wish that you get this fixed sooner then later; your right, $500 is alot of money and I hope you get this back plus more. I am sad that this has made you think twice about going to Disney especially how great it can be when things go right!!!
Sending a bunch of pixie dust to you to get this resolved as soon as possible!

I was wondering where that picture was since it didn't really ring a bell for POR. But when you said Canada it all fell into place. That's the path that leads to Le Cellier. You must be on one of the upper levels above the restaurant looking down on the path or maybe behind those carts in Canada near where the Beaver Tails used to be sold.

Yea Yea thats it :rolleyes1 . After I went back and looked at the pics I took at the same time it was around Canada.

Of course, it would have been Disney police and there is a quetion of their impartiality but at least it would have been recorded and they should have secured the surveillance footage.

NOT looking to pick a fight at all, just clarify one thing. Disney has "security", but POLICE are sworn officers for the county and are not employed by Disney. Filing a report with Disney Security is not the same thing as filing a police report with county sheriff's officers.

Sounds as if it is dangerous to pay anything with cash because there is no proof of the transaction unless there is a receipt.

The definite thing we should all learn from this thread is that we should get a receipt for everything and make sure it really IS a receipt and to have documentation of everything. We had something to happen to us last year that could have been a REAL mess if we hadn't had our reservation papers with us. We booked at Yacht Club on AP rate. It was just my husband and I and we got upgraded to the concierge level in a king room before we ever got there. When we were checking in the CM told us and said that it was a complimentary upgrade. Upon checkout we received our bill and when we looked at it we had already been charged for the concierge room. I took my reservation papers over to the desk(we were waiting for our Magical Express bus) and explained what happened to the CM. She made copies of our reservation and credited our card immediately. I am so glad it was that easy as we would never have booked that room because we would never pay that much. We are going in a few weeks and I will definitely keep ALL receipts after reading this. Good luck OP. $500 is a lot of money to us too!!

It is Canada - one of my favorite areas of Epcot:

We have had problems with being charged $10 for internet access for 4 of our 12 nights last year. I just called the front desk and they took off the charges. The funny thing is that the CM I talked to doubted me and asked if I was sure someone else in the room didn't use it. I laughed and said there was no way because we didn't even have a computer with us but maybe the maid did. Said jokingly.

The other problem we had that was a real pain to fix was with the Disney gift card being charged 3 times for the same basin purchase. I said something while in the store because the balance seemed off and the clerk told me he was sure he only charged it once. I only signed one reciept for the one amount. I checked my reciepts back in the room that evening to find that I was correct they charged me 3 times. I called the front desk asking for advice and was told it wasn't their problem and they could not help me. I then called the phone number on the back of the card and they told me they couldn't help me that if it came through 3 times they had to assume I made 3 of the same purchases and that Basin would have to verify my claim. I finally called basin and the girl called me back after checking their register and said she would call the gift card number and get it fixed. Took me 4 hours to get that problem straightened out not to mention the minutes on my cell phone. Thank goodness it was when we were done for the day so it didn't cut into park time.

I always bring my credit card bills to show the room is paid in full. I always bring copies of any tickets I bring with me incase they get lost. I always have disney numbers programed in my cell phone. I always keep my reciepts and put them in a baggie and write down all my transactions each night when we get back to the room. If I hadn't done this I might not have caught the basin charges.

To the OP I am sure things will work out for you. I am sad that you have to go through so much stress over it in the mean time. Don't let one bad apple ruin your future fun at Disney. I am sure you will feel better when this gets fixed and some time has passed and it is just a lesson learned.

This question has been asked and asked yet the OP never answers it.:confused3

She did answer that question - she stated that the receipt proved that she paid for the tickets, in case they were lost, but did not state the manner in which she paid for them.

I'm very sorry this happened - $500 is a huge amount of money - I really hope this gets resolved quickly for you.

I always have disney numbers programed in my cell phone.

You can take all those numbers off your phone. You need only one. Here it is.

Ah, ok, Canada. I have stayed at POR twice and did not recognize that gorgeous storybook like setting in the photo. I was looking at Indianadisneyfan's signature where it says POR and thought it was the photo caption. Thanks for letting me know where the photo was taken. It just makes me want to tip-toe through the tulips.

OP, you sure made us all aware of watching our receipts. Reading this thread makes me really wonder why this is happening so often. Did you ever notice it doesn't happen the other way around too often?
