Immediately, the ride stopped, the lights came on, and it was like Morlocks from the Time Machine came out of hidden doors in the stone walls.
They grabbed the woman, and child, whisked her through a hidden doorway and they vanished in two seconds.
Lights came back on and the ride started again.

And I think the Morlocks are everywhere, nope, not gonna mess with them.

:rotfl:

Funny, my last trip report mentioned this and I just now find the thread.

Being in Law Enforcement for over 10 years I did notice on the last few trips seeing the uniformed security. I have never had the pleasure of meeting a plain clothed officer however I do hope there are more than a few guns in property. Disney would be just a prime target for a terrorist and or lunatic.

When we went to Disney last May we had two incidents like that. One was on the monorail going from the gate to the terminal. There was an unguarded bag on the train and we just happened to have had a TSA agent on the train with us. She was immediately on her walkie talkie. Had two others waiting at the other end when we got there. They moved everyone out as quickly as possible.

We also seen an unguarded back pack at the DTD bus terminal. They moved everyone over to a different section of the terminal and lots of security came up quickly.

Back in the early 90s I was in the Navy and it was right after we invaded Iraq, we had heightened security and we got a package in the mail for one of our new students (it was check in day) and he was at lunch and the package started ticking. They evacuated our building and took the package out of the building and blew it up.

You never know.

Last trip I saw an undercover cop. She had tourist clothes on, but a wired earpiece in her ear. It was at DHS. We were walking out of the park towards the boat dock and we saw her stop and talk to the bag checkers at the front of the park. I had just been telling DH about the undercover people and sure enough!!

We did see a uniformed p.o. with a dog when we were walking into the MK too... bet it was another unattended bag.

It freaks DH out... big brother is always watching. But it doesn't freak me out in the least. I welcome all of the cameras and undercover people. It makes me feel safer!!! 47 square miles is a big area NOT to be monitored!!! They do a great job. :goodvibes :cloud9:

Disney...like almost all large retail enterprises...have had plain clothes "security" for decades.

That is to protect merchandise...plain and simple.

Disney security is hardly a police force...and indeed has had several notable issues in the past when they tried to "play cop".

The orange/ osceola county sheriffs are the police...disney security are not.

Just the facts here...no opinions.

But seriously, if you don't think "mall security" when you go through the "bag check" you're giving them way too much credit.

While they are classified as "security", many of them are trained, retired police officers.

On our trip this past Aug, as we were leaving AK, I saw several guys just hanging around outside the ticket windows, talking, about 4 of them I think. Mid 20's to mid 30's or so. As we walked by them I noticed that they had small black ear pieces in their right ears with a wire going down their neck. Undercover security of course. Otherwise they looked like regular tourists, in shorts and shirts, and tennis shoes/sneakers. On our second day at AK, also while leaving we saw another undercover security guy...who looked alot like Sam Jackson, the actor.

They are out there...and they are there to protect us and Disney...nice to know that I can feel safe while in the Happiest Place on Earth.

Mike
:rotfl2: I just had a visual in my mind of Samuel Jackson as a disney undercover policeman. . .

I'm so sick of these snakes in this park! :lmao:

I feel your pain! I get Christie, Crystal and just Chris <shudder>. I am actually Christina, but my parents never called me that. I've seriously thought about legally changing my name to just Christa.

Yes, back to the topic! I can't wait for my next trip so I can start looking for the undercover security!!

My DD's name is Micah and everytime they call for her to the office (she is in high school) they call for MICHEAL. :lmao: She has had her name spelled Micha, Mica and many other ways. I call her Mike usually and she REALLY hates that! While I LOVE her name. . . she fusses at me all the time!:rotfl2:

I'm sure the men and women working in Disney security do a fine job. However, if I were to believe all of the exaggerated and embellished posts about them, Disney is hiring elite government agents that are all waiting backstage in a teleportation chamber ready to be beamed in within a few seconds of an incident, grab the unruly guest(s) and beam them backstage where they are promptly exterminated and never seen or heard from again.

Okay, the teleportation chamber is a stretch. I'm sure they just use pixie dust and snap their fingers and magically appear and disappear.

Just to add, the security and CM's are well trained, and there is a sizeable contingent of active Law Enforcement. You do not want to eff around at WDW.

As for a terrorist act... it's possible anywhere. If you're familiar with the subject from a certain perspective, you've thought about it and understand many of the mitigating factors, scenarios, and outcomes. The pros have looked at this much harder than any of us. While you should always be vigilant, you don't need to fear a terrorist attack at WDW any more than anywhere else.

Just back from a trip to WDW.

My dad was actively looking for Bad Boys Bad Boys but he never saw any. :lmao:

At EPCOT we saw one goofy dude who has been mentioned in this thread who was a Bad Boy Bad Boy. :rotfl:

I have no idea if some of Disney Security sworn LEOs. But I would be willing to bet that some of them are. One guy I ran into the 2009 trip was a LEO or a retired LEO. No if, ands or buts. :)

Later,
Dan

Good to know! No wonder things run smoothly when there is an issue. :smooth:

Absolutely, the guy I was standing behind in line a few years ago was a retired undercover cop for NYPD on his day off. I commented that he had a distinctive NY accent and that I had gone to college in NY. That got the conversation started - he told me many of them are retired police officers and military police as well.

They don't mess around; they go for the best.

Fourth of July was insane. I think they were at their limits on park resources and it's no surprise if Security was spread thin. I remember commenting that most of the CM's did not seem to be regular CM's, and this was one of the times I wouldn't have minded uniformed security personnel manning barricades throughout the park.

It was also clear that they need to do something about the bottleneck on Main Street. At one point people were sent to a viewing area backstage near the dumpsters. While the rest of the park was overcrowded but bearable, MS was ridiculous.

Logic dictates that they need to improve the exit from the park. Heaven forbid that there's a stampede in there. I hope to god that their evacuation plan is better than their exit plan. I don't think anyone cares about the "Disney Image" when leaving the park. If it's such a big deal, they can push the "real backstage" back a little bit and dress up an exit area through it.

They didn't care about the Disney Image when they had guests sitting backstage for the fireworks viewing. They cared about taking tickets and cramming the park to capacity.
I've actual;ly been in there when it has bottlenecked and theyopen up gates next to the Plaza restaurant and another gate further down the street and people end up going out backstage.
