This is correct. During our Keys Tour last week, our guide showed us their system and told us that each tardiness equals 1 pt. After 3 points, you are terminated. Disney doesn't do tardiness. He also told us if any cast member is caught taking any kind of photos "behind-the-scenes", that they will be terminated, and can no longer get a job with ANY disney company or any Disney affiliate....which is pretty much EVERYBODY:scared1::scared1:

I hope that it is three tardies per year not lifetime! I can't imaging commuting I-4 and not occasionally getting caught behind a major accident. You can't plan enough extra time to avoid a freeway shutdown.

This information is not correct.

For late less than two hours you get 0.5 points. For late more than two hours, calling that you will not be in or just missing your shift is 1.0 points (special rules for sick). And other items have various numbers of points.

If you get three or more points within 30 days or six or more within 90 days (or certain other limitations) your manager will meet with you. The results can be anywhere between "Please don't let this happen again in the future" to being terminated. I personally would not try to play games, but with five years of employment I could "get away" with more than a person with only a few months of employment.

That is good to hear. It had really hurt the magic for me thinkng of the rules the other way.

Ok, to get back on topic I will add my story. I have spotted undercover security a couple of times, due to the ear pieces. One time though, I was completely oblivious! I went to Guest Services to fill out an employee appreciation card and I guess a husband and wife had gotten in some sort of argument over the child. The man, two undercover security and one regular security were all standing behind me sorting it out, and I was so focused on the task at hand that when I turned around I almost ran into them. BTW, the one guy was huge!

My 5 year old daughter had fallen at the Dolphin resort pool and had what looked like a fractured skull. She was rushed to the hospital with her mother in the ambulance. I stayed back to grab a few things to bring over, including clothes for all of us (we were in bathing suits) and her teddybear.

The hotel offered a ride to the hospital, I just had to call from the room when I was ready to go. So I changed, packed and called. They said come down to the lobby.

The next 30 seconds was like from a movie: I got off the elevator into the vast Dolphin lobby, filled with people. I walked maybe 10 steps toward the center of the lobby on my way to the front doors and was then overtaken from behind and on either side by two quickly-walking men. Without a word or even looking at me, they took my bags from my hands and led me through the lobby to a limosine just at the front door. They didn't ask my name or any other questions or comments. The limo trunk was open, the engine was running. The driver motioned me into the back seat while the men put the bags in the trunk, closed it and tapped the trunk lid. Hearing the tap, the driver pulled away toward the hospital, without me speaking a word.

My daughter ended up being mostly OK with a concussion and a good headache for the next day or so. At the time of the injury, it looked like a spoon had been pushed into her forehead - I really have no idea how that wasn't a broken skull, but alas, it wasn't.

That seems pretty lenient, almost like "flex time" - which is nice to have when you might need it. As a manager, I've often found that the "bad employee syndrome" tends to show many symptoms, tardiness being just one. And as such, a termination usually isn't that hard, as it ends up being a combination of tardiness, performance issues, interaction problems, etc.

On the flipside, I'd also guess that the people getting promotions aren't ever racking up a pile of these points.

The huge security guys get all the press. I want to hear about the 5-1 security guy with the helium voice who takes down the shoplifter, or rousts the drunk, etc. ;)

I saw the security last december. down near RnR, a family / group sitting at tables close by Beaty and the Beast got loud and obnoxious and out of nowhere came 8 big security dudes and escorted the party out of there.
I mean, out of nowhere they came from. :confused3
I heard and saw the ruckus passing by, and stopped. lots of folks did.
I still dont know how the CM's got there.

then again, i dont want to know. :surfweb:

I'm sure we're all going to look super suspicious when we go to Disney and hunt for the undercover security and security cameras. :rolleyes1

Wow! Sounds fast and efficient! I'm sure you appreciated not having to wait around the lobby and dwell on how your daughter was doing! Glad to hear your daughter is ok. Did the driver talk to you at all on the way?

Last year while awaiting fireworks at the MK, the park was so packed there was no where to even stand. I asked a cast member if we could sit on the grass over the chain and watch the fireworks (just 2 of us), he said let me check, then came back and said, "sure, it should not be a problem". About 10 minutes later we were sitting eating popcorn waiting for the fireworks to start when I heard somewhere behind me "there right there on the grass, right there", come from some sort of radio. A few seconds later a uniformed cast member came out and asked us to come off the grass. I informed him another cast member had given us permission and he simply stated "he shouldnt have done that", he was pretty rude, and I found it to be un-warrented espically after I had asked the closest cast member for permission

We probably strolled by many undercover guards this past week...but I did notice quite a few more uniformed guards then I have in the past. Anyone else notice this? Or is it just a summer/holiday weekend thing?

I have two undercover encounters, both at Disneyland.

My BIL is a smoker and we were hanging out near the smoking area that is behind the Matterhorn. Inside one of the tree planters we saw a backpack that was obviously deserted. We mentioned it to a CM working a popcorn cart.

Within seconds there was a swarm of both undercover and jacketed security. They just materialized, it was amazing. The dogs were there within a few minutes. They asked talked to us a little after the dogs had cleared the bag. They thanked us and gave us a huge stack of fastpasses.

Also in Disnyland I talked to some undercover Imangineers. They were there that day because we had had a minor earthquake (btw, best days to visit Disneyland are earthquake days. Empty parks, and nothing closes.). They were checking for structural damage. That was how I noticed him, he was looking at the ceiling. If you have ever lived where there are earthquakes you have a habit of checking the ceiling for little cracks. I was waiting for someone to buy something so I chatted with him for a while. I think this was the CM that told me they use cameras at the height of children to see how things look from their height too. So how cool is that?

Just a FYI an ear piece does not make someone an undercover cop in the parks. Most middle management/management/some regular cms wear ear pieces to stay connected to base when working in the parks. They are the ones usually on the scene first. They are the ones who then notify security that a problem is brewing. Sometimes they even just call in the deputies if they see the situation warrants it.

I started this thread but never posted my sightings from my May trip :lmao: Up until reading about them on DIS I never knew WDW had undercover security. So when my wife and I went in May we were on the look out. I did not spot any at MK or HS. I did manage to spot a group of them hanging out in front AK one afternoon when we were leaving the park. But the most I seen was at Epcot for some reason. As soon as we walk up to the gate I noticed a gentlemen sitting beyond the turn style entrance with the typical hawaiian shirt and jeans, and as he turned his head I seen the tell tale mark of the wire going into the ear. I did not manage to see any in the park it self:confused3 but I always seen them at the entrance. Its really cool and interesting when you do spot them and to see how closely they are watching the crowd:thumbsup2

I know I"m late to this thread, sorry, hope it's not too late.

I always knew the dark rides had eyes all over, just never knew they could respond this quickly:

A few years ago, one night my wife and I rode Splash Mountain. Directly in front of us in our boat sat a woman and a small girl, maybe 4 years old.
THe girl, not the woman.

At the end of the ride, just about half way up the long climb, this woman grabbed the girl by the arm, and jumped out of the boat on the right side, swinging the little girl about like a rag doll.

My wife and I both gasped, I thought for sure they might get squished in between the boat and wall, but apparently this woman could really jump, they landed on the stairs to the right.

Immediately, the ride stopped, the lights came on, and it was like Morlocks from the Time Machine came out of hidden doors in the stone walls.
They grabbed the woman, and child, whisked her through a hidden doorway and they vanished in two seconds.
Lights came back on and the ride started again.

And I think the Morlocks are everywhere, nope, not gonna mess with them.

I've really been enjoying these stories...thanks everyone for sharing.

We just have one encounter. A few years ago, our family was just loading into a car on Spaceship Earth, and a couple cars in front of us was a group of 4 rowdy teenage boys that had just loaded. Just as their car passed into the tunnel of the start of the ride, one of the boys decided it would be brilliant to jump out of the car. The ride stopped of course, and before I even had a chance to point out the incident to the rest of my family (who missed seeing it), three men came out of NOWHERE and started talking to the boys. The boys at first claimed "No English" so in the very next sentence, one of the security men started speaking in the boys' language and put the fear of God into them. As the talking went on, the boys slunk down lower and lower into the car until you could barely see their heads. I had to laugh to myself at that. The ride resumed and the men disappeared as quickly as they came and the rest of the ride was quite silent in that car!
