Bad Behavior in the Everest Event

I wanted to post this after something I've read about the event on another
VMK board.

Apparently, there were lots of players being really disruptive. Some were
probably just bored kids who were not part of the event. Others, however,
were players on a Base Camp disrupting the rooms of other Base Camps.

I found out that VMK Dead had two players from another Base Camp
blocking the ride intentionally so others couldn't ride. The VMK Dead
member saw the players listed their Base Camp team in their signatures.
When she tried to search guest rooms for it, she discovered that the
room wasn't open!

So instead of keeping their Base Camp open, these two players decided to
be bad sports. I agree with the person who posted that I'm sure the
other members of their team would be very unhappy to learn two people
on their team gave others a poor opinion of them.

We had some incidents in the Magical Yeti Path, as well. The worst thing
was also another Base Camp trying to disrupt our Base Camp. A player
dressed in a pink princess top and blonde hair with a Guestxxxx title
announced that everyone should leave Magical Yeti Path and go to her
team's Base Camp instead!

We asked her to leave and she returned two more times! Jellyrolls from
Team Boogies was in our Base Camp to witness this bad behavior.
After the third appearance, my teammates and I reported her AND her
Base Camp for what they were doing. Her teammates will be VERY
unhappy if VMK declares their entry as disqualified due to poor sportsmanship.
Time will tell.

There were other room disrupters out there. Some were "agents" whose
sole purpose was to ask "Who is your room owner?" over and over.

There were the kids who asked to join, and wouldn't take no for an answer
when we told them the rules about the contest. There were others who
would not understand when we ignored them to greet riders and WORK.
When your ride isn't judged until after 9pm Sunday night, you tend to get
a little testy about it. :)

I'm sure there were other instances of bad behavior, but if you do post
about it, please do not name names . Talk about what happened,
but we cannot post bad stuff about others directly here.

We were lucky that we didn't really have any trouble in our base camp. Most people came to ride and stayed in the room for just a few minutes. We had our line set up so that if people were coming in and just standing there, it would require three people to completely block our line.

The only trouble person we had was someone who was following Aengus around, but it sounds like that is a regular occurance. We had already been judged by that point, so it kind of broke up the boringness of the event. I think that person was the real reason why hitting Aengus became so much fun ;)

We did have a few kids who asked if they could work in our room, and many of them wanted to come back into the area I roped off for team members. Most of the people who asked if they could come to the area were understanding when we said it was just for team members. I let a few of our friends back there as well from time to time (and most of the actually changed into our team outfit while back there.

We had a couple of kids who wanted to play the yeti on our ride, and were pretty persistant about it, so I told them to ride the ride to the room where they wanted to play the Yeti, and wait there. I figured it would get them out of base camp, and bothering us, and they would get bored and move on to something else.

I think our camp had a little more luck regarding "pests" as I will put it. I think we only had to institute the "Ban from Room" button on two occasions, which primarily dealt with individuals blocking the line.

You mentioned something though I found quite interesting and cute in some respects. We had a few players, assuming young children, who desperately wanted to be part of the team and help out in the room. Although it was a little annoying I did find it flattering that they liked our ride enough to want to be a part of it. Since the ride lines weren't at a 3 Red Mickey status we tolerated it somewhat. I guess the funny part of it though was that after 5 or so minutes they realized how boring it could be manning a room all day and and ended up leaving. Boy were we jealous.

People spamming their base camp within ours was about the extent of our troubles. Couldn't really label it "trouble" either, because booting spammers can be fun!! :thumbsup2

we viewed as intimidation on our part, and flattery on theirs. :: boot ::

That is such a shame about VMK Dead. I wish I would have known about that I would have sent a little friend over for a visit. ;) Not that she could have moved them, but she does not take mean peeps on VMK to well.

As for the girl who bothered us on Saturday, she also stated that her team would give stuff for going on their ride. A friend of mine visited to room to actually see the girl stating - they would not give any prizes - just tell them that they need to come back at the end of the ride. Of course, my friend advised VMK of this ploy.

It is a shame in a virtual world - there are such bad seeds. But as I always say "They will get their just desserts, just hopefully sooner than later."

All I can say is that I hope all of the teams who showed such great sportsmanship, receive something for their efforts. I met a bunch of great people who came on our ride as well as when I visited their rides.

Wow! Nothing bad to report over at Base Camp Scream - we had very little visitors come through all weekend. I would have liked to have employed the boot button now and then - maybe it would have given us some excitement in our base camp! LOL!

For the most part, almost everyone that came to Base Camp Yeti Trackers showed great sportsmanship.....There was a few things that occured...we had the baby thing at one point and also someone did show up wanting to know who the owner was repeatedly, along with the people that wanted to sit with us then ride...lol All in all things went well for us. It is sad to say but I as well, did witness some of the other things you mention, most of it was stopping the riders from riding. We made sure that we had our rooms, track jumper proof and that they exited into vmk rather then into a room or back at base camp. I waited patiently in a few rooms, until they moved out of the way! Sad, that this is what some will resort to, for a wishful gain!

Wow~! I had no idea that while we were locked away in our little base camp, that all this was going on! We had the occaisional kid come in and want to help, and Karo's fanclub took up camp in the yeti room, but other than that we had no issues to speak of! I did have to boot a few that were blocking, but i am sure they did not do it intentionally, at least I thought not until i read this! YIKES!

Sorry you guys had to go thru that... shameful behavior. At least at times it helpped pass the time.

For the most part, I have to say that people were really well behaved on the rides and, aside from the incident mentioned above, people were very considerate in Base Camp Dead.

Unfortunately, the guest mentioned in Lori's post came at a time when I was afk, so the team had no way of booting her from our camp. Apparently what happened (and I've received this story second hand from teammates and those who witnessed it) was the girl demanded to be allowed to join our Team. She was told that we were not taking new members so she stood blocking the ride and, I'm told, tried to "report" our room. At the same time, several people in the room sent reports about the guest to the Help desk and VMK_Mocha showed up. I am told her quote was, "The owner isn't here, but Mocha is" and promptly booted the player.

We're all fine and by the next day the entire event had been titled Mocha Madness. Just one more memory from a long weekend.

Thanks to all the great riders who came through. We loved seeing all of you.

We had a couple of minor incidents at base camp stitch. Nothing too out of the ordinary:

1) People didn't obey our rules (which were clearly put on the wall!) and would try trading or asking to be friends. One person tried trading, even though that was one of our rules. When we told her that it was one of the rules on the wall she said "no it's not" even though it was there!!

2) Someone demanded to see the leader (i.e. me) and when I rushed over there all she said was "Hi!". That was it. Great.. I was in the middle of a ride too!!

Sorry to hear people being bad on the everest ride! VMK rules do still count!!

Well, i had a lot of them turning off the candles, an easy fix.
But they also were turning off the fire windows built deep inside the room, and the only way to turn them back on was to deconsruct the part where they were, and rebuild.

I also had a cave in room with trapped explorers, with voices, and they would not ride the ride but hang out outside the room spoiling the whole special effect.

I dont think many realize how many bat magics I, my team mates, and all the other teams that built these rides sacrificed, while we could have been earning credits instead of doing this.

I spent at least 30,000 credits on my rooms alone, thats three bat magics. I also could have been earning 15,000 a day playing pirates
(plus 100 ice cube chairs).
Thats a 1 and 1/2 bat magics per day times how many weeks preparing for the event.

I could have had enough bat magics to trade for inferno or green flips
or some rare, or beta. But no regrets. I have something worth more than green flips and inferno combined. I have my team! Friends are priceless.

For the most part it went well though, thanks.

We feel for you Kingsfoil.

Over at the dead we had to insititute a 'fire run' every so often that had a team member checking the ride.

Apart from the Mocha Madness we had a lot of 'I want to join the Dead'. But to be honest we have grown used to this as whenever The Dead show up anywhere in force we get a lot of it. :rotfl2:

We did get one personal pet peeve which was people coming in and giving it the "come to our base camp" stuff. All I have to say to that is, everybody wants to be like the best around so why not raid their room and advertise your own. :confused3

Thanks to all that rode and we hope you all enjoyed the event whether you spent time with the dead or not.

We would also like to thank (hopefully she is a Dis member) Evilyn. This little star has never been with us before but spent many an hour sitting around in our base camp keeping us company and promoting our ride.

If Evilyn is a Dis Member can she please drop me a line.

After this weekend I now get a feeling of what it is to be a real WDW ride operator during a parade, how much sitting around doing nothing can you put up with before going completely mental?

Actually we had an incident that made me very very upset. Late at night on Saturday my DD was attending the camp and I was there with her under another avatar and her cousin was there entertaining us. A player came in as a guest number. Asking her if she was in Middle Stool and saying he was bad and she should kick him, he wanted to play bay be, other things I am not going to say in here.
Anyway I told her to get away from her laptop and I gave it to him as much as my limited vmk language allowed me which I am sure he enjoyed. I reported him under my avatar and under my DD and all three of us put him on ignore, so we did not see what he was continuing to say but his mouth was moving. He was not leaving, he was following my DD from place to place . We could not kick him out since the room owner was not there. To tell you the truth I wish I could get my hands on him through the screen. I hope he gets banned for life in real life soon. The fact is there are these kind of people around. They hide behind their computers. Before that incident I felt vmk staff were just taking things way to serious but I am glad they do. I did drop a note about this to vmk contact again yesterday.
So, considering that I had no problem with kids being kids coming to the room changing to look like the team,...

:confused3 in the end i didnt join a team . although i really enjoyed riding them :thumbsup2 Yes there were blockers. i think that what they do , just try and aannoy other people :confused3

I think our biggest problem was just the kids asking for the bat magic pin. Wouldn't you know one was a kid on my list!:) Oh well. Only a few used bat magic while there, too. All in all it was just like a regular room for us.:)
I just wish I'd had more time to visit more camps!;)

Base Camp: Ever Rides had some minor problems dealing with the recent 'fads' on VMK that most of us do not get ourselves into. (Taken, not taken). We also had a few advertisers and things in that nature. That is just about it.

Really sad to hear about such rude and outlandish behavior like blocking rides.

Thanks, Joece

Yes, we had the trade requests many times. But did have 1 time when 2 players were using magic. We kept asking them not to, but were told that we were not the owner so what were we going to do about it. We said we would report, and they said they didn't care. Not sure if anyone ever reported them or maybe they just got bored because we stopped paying attention to them.

But we didn't have any seriously malicious attacks like Briar posted.

LOL, Simba. "Mocha Madness"! That was also a problem with the room owner
being a CL. I think she didn't want to boot if she could avoid doing so.
She sets a good example, but I'm too set in my ways to emulate her. ;)
I'd be quicker on the boot button or threaten to boot if they didn't either
ride or leave.

I forgot to mention a really funny incident. It was both insulting yet at
the same time incredibly amusing. A boy came back into the room after
we thought he finished our ride.

No. He came back to tell us that he left in the middle of the ride because he
thought the ride was too long and he was getting bored! Those of us
in the room were silent for a few heartbeats, and when (I believe it was
Jewel?) said if he couldn't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
But....the kid didn't think what he told us was rude in any way! :rotfl2:

Since our base camp leader is also a community leader, she was stuck with
a kid who would NOT leave her alone with questions about why VMK hasn't
gotten back to him about being a community leader. She'd answer him,
but he wouldn't understand and keep asking.

I am not a leader for good reason, and I just asked him to leave because
there's nothing else we could do for him.

Oh, here's a good one:

Did any of you, when you requested "Please stop using your magic.", ever
get a player tell you, "You can't tell me that, you're not the room owner." ?

I did. :teeth: My teammates jumped on her for that comment. LOL!

I think one of the funniest in our room Briar was someone who kept setting off their magic after being told and when asked again to stop said they set it off by 'accident'.

It's so easy to slip from changing your clothes, knock the magic button then select a pin and activate it, I'm surprised there is not more 'accidental' magic going off in VMK. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
