Today on the Travel Channel, Samantha Brown made a reference to sleeping three kids in the pull out sofa bed at VWL. Unless one is under three, Samantha is a badddddd girlllllllll.

She also called the bed in the master bedroom a queen?

Nope, not bad, just probably inexperienced! I bet she doesn't have any kids. Who has kids (small or otherwise) that get along well enough to sleep 3 to a bed without killing each other or driving Mom & Dad crazy???? :teeth: I sure don't know any families like that! :p :p

I was pretty disappointed with the WL episode of Great Hotels. I really feel, although Fort wilderness is nice and it is close to WL, I think there was plenty of things at WL to see.

She/they never showed : any of the honeymoons suites at WL; The tour of WL that you can take; the flag family.

She/they only showed the one bedroom at the Villas, she/they never mentioned they have studios, 1-br, and 2-br there for different size families.

I liked hearing about the FW cabins, the campfire, and Hoop-de-doo (especially HDD as we are going there in Jan) but still feel that they should be covered in a great hotels on FW or, if they don't feel they can fill a halfhour, some combination of FW and other WDW resorts. They have done multiple hotels in one show before.

I really feel she/they could have done a lot better job if she/they concetrated on WL and VWL.

I'm guessing that Samantha Brown had a childhood like mine.....no brothers or sisters, but lots of cousins! When all of us girl cousins got together it wasn't odd at all for us to sleep 3 sideways in a queen bed. Of course it was usually for just one night and we had lots of fun having a sleepover! For a vacation of more than a day or two I don't know if it would work. And, of course, at DVC that 3rd would have to be under 3 (but, heck if you have a 2yo, 4yo and 6yo it might work....)

We've used the beds in just about every configuration imaginable....everyone in the king, one adult and both kids in either the king or the pull out, one adult and one kid in each bed, kids in the king and adults in the pull out....

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who had trouble getting the kids to sleep alone on vacation......but that's another topic....

Now I've gotta go find out when that Great Hotels will be shown again...

Go Here to see a great list put together EACH WEEK of Disney related tv programs.

It is done by Kirby Bartlett-Sloan. It is a great list, and it is great of Kirby to do it for all us disneyaholics :)

Also for people who do not have Travel Channel, or miss these showings, I have all FOUR of the Disney Great Hotels shows recorded on one Tape.

For the cost of a video tape and the shipping I will make a copy for you. The shows on the tape are in AKL, GF, YBC, WL order.

Mike

Hope this offer is OK to post. I am not selling anything just recouping cost of the tape and shipping.

Hi Mike.

Sent you a private message about making a copy for us. I have asked various people this last week if anybody had the Travel channel and no luck! That would be great.

Thanks.

Next trip to WLV in two weeks! woo hoo

Lesley,

We also did the same thing growing up - three to a full sofa pullout when staying with the cousins. We were known to do it for two weeks at a time. And get this - we had six teenage girls and four adults in a house with a single bathroom for a week!

(My mother called us spoiled - they slept four or five to a bed when staying with her cousins - and had no bathroom at all on the farm.)

(Sleep alone on vacation! We've have a hard enough time getting them to sleep alone at home - bought a king bed so all four of us could be in there at once)

Hi Mike,
I just sent you a PM about possibly getting a copy of the tape. As a matter of fact, I got so excited when I saw your offer that I pressed the wrong PM button and sent the message to Littlestar first by mistake! (Sorry, Littlestar, I tried to canel it, but if it comes through anyway, just ignore it. :))

Thanks for your generous offer!

actually if a single parent goes to VWL with 3 kids there is no problem with 3 kids on the sofa...on the other hand there is no excuse for mistaking a King size bed for a Queen...

All 3 of my kids have slept on the sofabed before--last summer they did a couple of times--DH and I were in the king size, my dad was in the bed in the studio and my mom was on that sofa. Either DS (age 4, small for his age) wandered in with us or crept between his 7 and 10 year old sisters. They are normally so whipped tired at WDW they don't mind.

I can't get my 2 "DVC-spoiled" DS to share a bed (w/o MAJOR complaining) We now only rent 2 BD units. When I saved some weekend pts at HH by getting a studio for 1 nt., I never heard the end of it. The only reply was that if we didn't stay in a studio, we would have been off-site in a hotel, which still required the dreaded bed share.

I dissagree.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who had trouble getting the kids to sleep alone on vacation......
Agreed. Our kids are all very small, and they don't like to sleep in a separate room alone. We're fine all sleeping in the master bedroom of a one bedroom.

I look forward to seeing some of these resort reviews. Thanks for sharing the dates and lineup.

Hey! Samantha is a sweetheart, and as far as I'm concerned she can be as baaddd as she wants!;)

Less than 60 days out to first trip home!
I'm at the stage of sculpting my mashed potatos into a replica of BCV.
(mildly obscure cinematic reference)

erikthewise, I think mashed potatoes are only suited for construction of more natural sorts of structures......like maybe BTMRR? (btw, I didn't find the reference that obscure...I mean, really, *everyone* has seen that one!)

Samantha Brown reminds me of a friend of mine....mildly annoying but nice enough that you just laugh it off!

lesley,

I guess that explains why I've been having so much trouble! (All those balconies and decorative moldings don't lend themselves to the medium of mashed potatos.)

BTW, does anyone know if Samantha actually gets to stay overnight in all these wonderful hotels, or do they just film, get out, and put her up in a Red Roof? That would be so sad....
