Sorry if this is in the wrong place...... Today Myself my sister and my brother were going to the cinema I was bringing my brother to see the Hannah montana movie as he loves music movies or loud movies on the way in as I handed the lady the tickets she turned to me and said "can you keep him quiet during the film" :scared1: Now to explain about my brother he is Mentally and Physically Handicapped he cant talk I bring him to the cinema every few weeks and is never a peep out of him. I got very upset about this and went up to another lady and asked to speak to a manager in the mean time I rang my husband he was just about to head into another movie (why he did not want to see a hannah montana movie is beyond me :rotfl: ) and told him what happened he came straight over then the manager came I got about 5 words out as at this point I was in a state so my husband explained the rest they called the lady over and I asked does she say this to every child or person going in I got this answer I say it to some and anyone with special needs so I decided not to stay and leave as this is ridiculous she went off and the manager came after us and told us he would get his manager down to talk in fairness to both managers they were full of apologies and said that that remark should have never been made and she is not a part of the staff that she was from an agency after about 10 minutes chatting with them we still decided to leave and get out money back as I was too upset Im sure people around us thought I was Crazy I had big red eyes from crying. The manager asked us to ring the main manager tomorrow and explain everything that happened so plan to do that...... Sorry If I am not making any sense Im still highly annoyed and just needed to vent Im the type of person that would normally shy away and not say anything glad I stuck up this time...

 That is out of order for them to be like that and you have every right to be mad and upset I would have done the same.

Words fail me that you had to be subjected to this kind of insensitivity :grouphug:

Good for you! That 'agency' member of staff needs some training to say the least. You should also mention the disability discrimination act which covers this sort of small-minded prejudice. They could be in serious trouble for this sort of ignorant remark.

I'm sorry you had to endure this, to you and your family.

How rude of the member of staff, I don't blame you for being angry. I think I would have to write to the manager because I'd end up crying.
Hope you're feeling better now

oh my word, I cannot believe that you and your family were subjected to such inappropriate behaviour, it is beyond outrageous !!! I am not surprised at the way you feel, I think it is totally unacceptable and I think the Manager should be ringing you tomorrow and not the other way around. I'm lost for words although I feel angry for you. Sending you big hugs

I would be so upset!!! How dare they single out your brother, I hope they offer you & your family some sort of compensation. This person needs a heavy duty class in customer service & manners before allowing her to deal with the public. My prayers to you & your family, I swear some people are just so darn ignorant!!

Thanks everyone I do feel a lot better I felt a weight been lifted when I finished writing about it on here I just needed to vent so thank you for the replies :grouphug: I did get to see the movie today at a different cinema and a good experience this time ...

I can see why you were so angry and upset this woman was bang out of order. Who do people like her think they are i hope you get something sorted and if you are anything like me you won't let it drop until you do:hug:

Good for you

us Irish are so back at specking up for ourselves

This is my very first post to the DIS boards Im so excited! I wanted to answer you as someone with a PDD NOS child who has a very hard time staying quiet... I would have raised h***. What a thoughtless thing to say to someone with a obviously disabled relative. This kind of thing has to stop. good for you going to the manager, but I am so sad to hear it made you cry. Big hugs.

Now on to learn how to use these boards as we are going to Disney May 2010! Full, no stone left unturned, 6 night stay on property. Let the odysey of trip planning begin!

What an awful experience for you all, I would have been upset too.

Well done you on speaking your mind and saying what you thought.

Well done for saying something! Totally inacceptable behaviour - hope you get some sort of compensation.

you did well, I dont think I would have remained calm!

I have a niece who has downs syndrome, and would raise the roof if someone said something off towards her (yes Ive a temper lol and seriously over protective)

hope it goes well today

I would have gone ape!!! Thats disgusting behaviour...I hope she loses her job with the cinema & the agency.

Big hugs to you.
