I booked our first dinner at Mickeys Backyard BBQ... then I started reading reviews and they're all so mixed.

Now, I'm being told by friends and other people on boards that Hoop-Dee-Doo is the way to go!

We are going with my nieces and nephews - their first time to Disney World and they are 5, 7, & 8.

OPINIONS PLEASE!!!! Reviews, Pictures, What ever it takes :)

dont want to wait to long to change it!

HOOP DE DOO!!!!! Welllll... it depends. My husband I went on our honeymoon and as a wedding gift, my aunt, uncle & cousin bought us front row seats to it (with them accompanying us, since they happened to be overlapping our stay.) So my husband and I looked completely uncool with our honeymoon mickey ears on sitting with FAMILY. We got picked on a couple times during the show which was actually a lot of fun (considering the all you can drink sangria.) Then of course, my husband gets dragged up to be the indian for the show (which just made the night that much better because my family and I died of laughter while he was performing!) The food was so so. Corn bread was AMAZING! Entertainment is definitely cheesy but the music is so catchy and fun. It's a fun filled night that I highly recommend if you are going with a group. It's a great way to laugh with friends and family. My husband and I secretly say that that was the best night of our honeymoon.... yep. It was just so much fun!!!!!

Thanks for you imput! I jumped at a spot at Backyard BBQ but now the reviews have me second guessing myself....definitely looking into Hoop-Dee-Doo! :) Will post a review with either we do!

I feel your "pain" :goodvibes

Our first trip I booked Mickey BBQ but the more I read the more I got kinda scared, so I looked it to the HDDR and compared menus and such and thought that it may be a better fit for us.
So I changed it to the HDDR and we LOVE it, go almost every trip! We didn't go last trip and we all kinda regretted it, its so much fun and the food isnt bad either~

That's just our family's take...;)

BUT....when doing ADR for another trip I looked into the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show and it didn't have very stellar reviews, but we were trying out the DDDP so I thought we would give it a go, and we really liked it!
All the food was yummy, except dessert! The show also was entertaining. Now we arent ready to run back to it, but maybe someday we will go again, but HDDR... if I don't book that next time there will be mutiny from my crew! :lmao:

So now that I have confused you even more, just check out the menus, settings etc and pick what you think your family would like best!

Good Luck :goodvibes

HDDR is the way to go. Kids that age will really enjoy the show(as will you). Our 8th time coming up next week. corny jokes, puns, antics but very funny especially if you take advantage of free(included) beer and sangria. Did not see when your trip was but if it's hot the a/c at HDDR is great

HDDR! We have never tried MBYBBQ, but HDDR is our one-and-only unanimous must-do every trip. We skipped it once and learned our lesson! Doo it!

We did HDDR in Nov 2009 & loved it! It was so much fun & my DS, who was 12 at the time, really enjoyed it. We thought about going on our upcoming trip but this time we're taking DS4 for the first time & want to try Mickey's BBQ for him. I think this will be the only time we'll do it & I think he'll love it despite the reviews.

DS14 wanted to do HDDR again but I don't think our little one would enjoy it as much at his age. I think with the ages of your nieces & nephews they will really get into the show & will not be disappointed with HDDR.
