We are going in December with three kids -- ages 5, 2 and 8 months. Which would you suggest?

Thanks -- in advance!!

Hoop Dee Doo is one of the best things at Disney. Don't miss it!

Hoop De Doo is lots of fun! Kids really seem to enjoy it, even if the corny jokes go over their heads! ;). It is not to be missed IMHO---we have been there several times over the years. :goodvibes

The barbeque has characters, but I understand they don't visit the individual tables. Also, since it is outside, I would have concerns about possibly inclement weather (rain). There are no characters at HDD, but it is still great fun.

RAin wouldn't be a problem at the BBQ as it is a BIG pavilion.

I agree the HDD is one of the best things at Disney World.

Christmas at the HDD is THE best thing to do at Disney World. I love it!

We havent done HDDR (doesn't interest us) but loved MBYBBQ. My kids were 5 and 7 and had a great time. We had done other character meals and knew that the characters didn't do table visits here. It wasn't an issue for us. The kids loved being able to get up to dance

The HDDR for sure...The room is decoarted so magically for the holidays...And the show is great for kids....Our DS was 14 months when we went for the first time....He clapped and smiled through the entire show...We all enjoy the food...DH loves the endless supply of beer...We alos like that the food is served to us rather than having to get up to get the food...Makes like much easier with the kids...

The HDDR is indoors which I think is a must with small kids...It can get chilly in Decemeber and the BBQ is outside...

Third (and very important to us) is that HDDR tables are assigned....Meaning you do not have to get there early to wait on line in order to get a good table...The BBQ is not assigned seating and the back tables are not great for seeing the show with kids...We did not like having to arrive well over an hour before the show just to get a good table for the kids to see....DH aslo said he was uncomforable because the BBQ seating are picnic tables...Just something he did not like...

The characters are cute at the BBQ but there are plenty of other meals were the characters come right to your table...There is just a storm of people at the characters at the BBQ...They do not come to the tables and it gets really crazy...Just not for us...

The performers at the HDDR our characters all in their own and they are terrific....Funny and talented!

I vote Backyard BBQ- it gets chaotic and the characters dont come to tables but the kids can dance with them and our kids always have a good time.

I vote for HDDR. We went when our DDs were 4 and they LOVED it. It was definitely one of the best parts of our trip that year. :thumbsup2

I haven't been to either, but have read such rave reviews of HHDR on the boards that we have added it to our trip.

Can anyone shed light on what drinks are included? I noticed daniel782001 mentioning the endless supply of beer... anything else?

Unlimited beer, sangria, apple juice, milk, unsweet iced tea, and choices of soda such as coke, diet, root beer

This should be enjoyable by your whole family. This has been DD8's favorite for 3 years, even though she does not get all the jokes. Great humor and music, and the food isn't shabby either. We have done the BBQ 2x, and although DD and DH liked it, I didn't care for it.

One more :thumbsup2 for the HDDR. I love this show in May I will be there with my 2 grandsons for there 1st time so excited...:yay:

HDDR!

My kids hated the BBQ. They dont dance and are shy about that kind of stuff so it was very boring for them. If you have kids that like to get out there and dance and interact it would be a great time.

Have done both and we prefer the HDDR, by a wide margin, however, with little ones the ages of your kids I would pick MBBQ because it's more geared to the younger ones than HDDR.

I would be afraid the kids will get a little antsy sitting at a table for that long.

I would choose Hoop-de-doo. Isn't the BBq a seasonal dinner....I'm not sure it is offered in December? :)

We go to the HDDR every year! My 8 year old daughter loves it! From time to time she will just start saying the jokes! "don't die Davy"!!!! It is so funny!

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are doing the deluxe dining plan so maybe I'll do both hmmmmm ......
