We are going in Dec. and have booked the ddp. My husband, who isn't even a big disney fan, is adamant about eating at Mickey's Backyard BBQ. How is it? Is it worth using up 2 credits per person?

How about Coral Reef? We have this one booked for CP package b/c we couldn't get Le Cellier. How is the food there?

Finally, we have Tony's booked for dinner for MVMCP. Is it a good place or should we just eat CS and use the TS credits for a different meal?

Thanks

Hi, the only one I can comment on is Coral Reef. We love this one & do it each trip. Atmosphere is great & food is too. Chocolate Wave for dessert!
Take a look at the menus online so you can see what's offered and what appeals to your family. Everyone has a different opinion on the restaurants
for various reasons. :goodvibes
Have a great trip.

We just ate at Coral Reef in Sept. and we loved it. The atmosphere is excellent, the tanks are cool, and the food was really good. I wouldn't worry about it. The steak isn't going to be as good as LeCellier, but it's very tasty anyway.

We went to Mickeys Backyard BBQ last year and enjoyed it so much more than we thought we would. The food is simple, plentiful and tasty and the entertainment is lots of fun. This also gave us the chance to explore Ft Wilderness which we otherwise wouldn't have done. We took our kids DS(7), DS (3) as well as DH (41) DM(61) and myself (37). The only possible down side I can come up with is it does get very noisy. The music and the kids squealing ... A blast for sure, but be prepared for the noise level ! Enjoy !

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure we'll stick with Tony's. We may decided we'd rather not spend the time at a TS place while in MVMCP.

I've heard mostly good things about Coral Reef and figure the kids will like it better than Le Cellier anyhow, with the tanks. However, I'll keep checking for any cancellations at Le Cellier.

We've done Hoop de Doo before and I really liked it, although I think it's more fun for the adults. It was booked this time, except for 9:30, which won't happen with young kids. We had planned for the afternoon at Ft. Wilderness since the kids really like it and will be doing sleigh rides at WL to finish off the night. I just hate that the BBQ will be taking up 2 credits for each of us but I know my inlaws would have a heart attack if they had to pay cash for the meal. This trip is our gift to them for Christmas and for them always helping with the kids. I'm so glad we're DVC members and have lots of points on the Disney reward card. The room and just about all the food will be taken care of.

Thanks again

We ate at Tony's in Sept. for the first time and it was great! We're going back during MVMCP in Dec. We both got steak so I can't speak for the other food. We loved it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Back Yard BBQ! :thumbsup2 We have been 4 times! It is TOTALLY worth it! Get rid of Tony's! It is boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Food is just okay. Nothing special.

I have done both the Coral Reeff and Tony's. The Coral Reef was nice since you can watch the fish while you eat. That's great for the kids too. Food wasn't bad - not the best, but not bad.

Tony's we like a lot. Their calamari as an appetizer is really good. My kids like it at Tony's because of the dogs. There has always been some sort of celebrationn going on when we were there. You can sometimes request to sit out on the "porch" which is nice, especially if you are there for the afternoon MK parade.

I know the saying is if Momma at happy...but if Poppa is adamant, I'd probably go and pretend to enjoy it even if I didn't. ;) :hippie:

:thumbsup2 been to BBQ 3 times and we really like the atmosphere but dont be expecting great food, its BASIC picnic, which we liked ok,

the fun is in the entertainment, mainly for kids under 10 yrs IMHO.

we had 3 5yr old girls who laughed and danced the night away and I have amazing video of it all!

Loved Coral Reef for nice tank and decent food.:woohoo:
Not impressed with either trip to Tonys.sorry.:rolleyes1

ps...we were at bbq in March and I REALLY think it was only one credit per person, not positive so check on it,
