Backstage Magic questions

My husband and I are looking at doing the Backstage Magic late next year. We are from New Zealand and only get over to either Disney park every 5 years or so. My question is, we are ride nuts so should we add a couple of days on at Disneyland at the end of the ABD? Or do the fast passes mean you get to do plenty of the rides in the time given?

Also, do the prices for the adventures increase the closer you get to the time? I'm on maternity leave and won't be returning to work until May next year so won't be able to book anything until then as I won't know whether or not I can take leave late in the year until I return to work.

The prices on a particular departure will go up as the trip fills up. So if the date you pick doesn't fill quickly, then it's possible the prices won't have gone up much. If it's a popular date, and a lot of people sign up, then the price could go up. You just never know.

If you are ride nuts then I would recommend adding a few days. The most free time you get is a couple hours each day and you get 5 free fast passes to use each day but there are only about 5 or 6 fastness attractions in each park. If you want to save money then look into switching to one of the good neighbour hotels just outside the park gates.

The prices rise depending on the number of people booked on the trip.

For those of you who just got back - did they do the tour of the Capitan or was it Mann's Chinese? I want to tour the capitan, so I'll plan on it pre trip if it looks likely the ABD will do Mann's :D

Thanks!
Rebecca

Are you referring to the trip that started just this past Sunday? If so, they are still in the midst of their trip. They are at Disneyland today. I know this because I'm friends with my Disney Guide from my ABD to California and he's leading the current trip. He posted a picture that he had taken of himself with Minnie Mouse this morning.

We got back last week and did the Adults only, we had a surprise *spoiler alert* that involved the Capitan theatre, and we toured the Chinese theatre so our tour involved both.

Did the surprise involve going downstairs to see the capitan's costume exhibit and the backstage areas? They just confirmed the exhibit will be Star Wars related when I go so it is *very* important to me I get to see it! LOL

It was not really a tour...but we got to do something not usually part of the trip and we got to wander around afterwards with the crowds and see the displays. We did not see any backstage areas. We were brought in, and left on our own after given admittance.

My advice...call the ABD vacationistas and ask if there is going to be a visit to the el capitain for your specific trip, because you want to see it....and if no plans are included to go there, check the hours of operation and go before the tour starts or after the first or second day...but be aware, there could be surprises either or both nights. We got double, no make that triple surprises on our first 2 nights!
