Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I'm planning on a whirlwind on-the-cheap WDW trip in late April (the plans just started last week, so you can understand why on the cheap :earsgirl: ) and I wanted to bring in my backpack to carry things like my bottle of water, some trail mix, and my digital camera. My travelling companions seem to think that WDW isn't allowing backpacks in right now due to security concerns--is there any truth to this, or are they being paranoid boys? I haven't been in six years, so I have no idea of what's changed since then!

Thanks!

Two of the four of us ALWAYS carries a backpack. We bring bottled water and a few snacks. Never a problem.

We are trying not to bring the backpack this year. Going to the dreaded fanny pack j/k and waterbottles with straps.

Backpacks are allowed it just takes a bit longer thru the security section. Just get it ready to open when you go in. :) Have fun!

I have never had a problem with snacks.

I always budget a few extra bucks in case they say "Hey, no way-no snacking for you", but has NEVER happened to us.

We have never had a problem bringing our backpack w/ *healthy* snacks into any of the parks. We alwyas bring our own cause the counter service is not all that great or all that good for you. Have a fun trip! :sunny:

We always bring a backpack with snacks and water bottles. I have never been turned away! The only thing is that they do have security check points before you enter the Parks where you have to open your bag and make sure they can see what's in it. So don't worry! bring your backpacks and snacks and have a great time! :mickeybar :earboy2:

:hourglass 58 days to go....

Just got back and saw TONS of backpacks including the rolling kind (even a small rolling suitcase if I remember correctly!). I just kept thinking what a pain it must be to lug all that around. I wore a fanny pack and always took granola bars with. Worked for me!

If it's busy, and you are in a hurry, you will have to wait a long time to get thru security.

We're not really going to be in a hurry. Besides, I'd rather deal with security lines than trying to buy snacks for two big guys in their mid-20s on my budget. :rotfl:

When we were there in early Feb there was no problem at all bringing snacks into the park.

One of the CM's who inspects the bags gave me a hard time(HA HA) about bringing a couple of cans of Diet Pepsi into Epcot.
Disney sells only Coke products.

He stopped everything and yelled out "do you see what this girl is bringing into the park today! Pepsi products. Sorry Mamam, but I'll have to confiscate these" It was really funny, although at first I did think I had done something wrong and was in trouble.

Dont worry bring in all you want!! A freind of mine who lives in Boca Raton bring in a packed backpack everyday! He would have 8 20 oz bottles of Coke, and a tupperware with small bag cookies, pretzels etc . He has never had anything confiscated. If weight of a backpack is a concern put the granola in your packets and carry the drinks. The only time I have seen a holdup in the bag inspection line is when someone had so mmuch junk in their backpack that they had to unpack it at the table. I put one thing in each pocket...camera in one, ponchos in another, and drinks in the middle. If security can see all the way down they will wave you through. :earboy2:
