Backpacks with lifetime guarantees?

Aren't there a couple companies that guarantee their backpacks for life? Was it Lands' End? My son is going to need a new one soon and I think it would be a wise investment for him!

Jansport has a lifetime guarantee as well. My son in college has one that he's been using since the 6th grade. We sent it in once for a tear (probably caused from the 50+ lbs he carried in it), they fixed it, and it looks just as good as new.

second LL bean. Oldest DS had his backpack a year and the strap started to separate. We took it back to the store (no receipt, I'm not that organized) and they exchanged it for a new one! Only problem is they last a long time and my kids get bored with them but oh, well!

My husband is rough on backpacks, he's been through 4 in the last 3 years. I bought him one from LL Bean and it's still going strong and the lifetime warranty was a plus. I just call and they'll either offer to repair or give me a new one. And I don't have to keep the receipt, I'm awful at that lol.

I have a Jansport one that I had gotten my sophomore year in high school... took me through 3 yrs HS, 6 yrs of college, and we use it on occasion on vacations, and it's still going strong 23 yrs later,

LE keeps a record of it. My DS used his backpack for 2 years when the zipper separated and wouldn't work. I contacted LE and they sent me a postage paid envelope. When they received the bag they sent me a check for it's full purchase price. I was amazed.

I'm really hoping I never let go of my Jansport. I never knew about the life time warranty till I read it on here. It has a tear between the canvas and leather bottom. They don't make them like that anymore and I love my bag.

It took a lot of convincing to get my aunt to splurge on a bag twice or triple the cost of a cheapy walmart. But she never bought another one again, since it never broke. Had it since 1996.

How does the Jansport warrenty work? Do we need a receipt? My son has a rip in his but he still uses it. I just worry that it could get worse and not be able to hold anything (the rip is in the bottom of course).

You don't need a receipt, just send it in and they will either repair it or send you a new one. My mom is a garage sale shopper and she buys Jansport bags in any condition then sends them and when she either gets the repaired or new bag back she donates it to the school supply drives in the fall.

LL Bean. They last FOREVER. DH has his from high school..4 years of high school, 4 years of college, 1 semester in England, backpacking and camping trips, and several vacations and trips to summer camp. The thing won't die.

Quite a few name-brand packs offer lifetime guarantees. I used to work at a camping store, and all the brands we offered had such a guarantee. I used to have to send packs back. The company gets to choose whether to repair or replace the pack; usually they'd replace. The guarantee is only on the seams and zippers -- the only items that really wear out.

Personally, I'm a fan of LL Bean products, but Lands' End, Jansport, NorthFace, and other brands are really all in the same ballpark.

You don't need a receipt for Jansport backpacks. They actually look for their logo on the zipper, since the label logo can be removed.
