Backpacks on rides?

Can you take a backpack on every ride? Smaller type?? Or do you have to leave it at the start of the ride on some rides and pick up as you exit??

I don't mind doing that as long as I don't have to take it to a locker.

I took a smaller one with me and it was fine to take it on the rides. Atleast the ones we wanted to ride.

At WDW I've never encountered a ride that I couldn't take my small-med sized backpack on. They usually have a netted area to slip it into, or I put my leg through the strap...

At Universal I found some rides that prohibit them.. At US they usually provide free lockers outside for those... at IOA I remember having to rent one???
