Backpacks in the parks--what do you take in?

I am interested in what people think is important to take into the parks for the day. I have thought about sunblock, snacks, ponchos, wippies, and napkins. What essentials am I missing? Do you use the lockers or do you haul them around?

We have never used a backpack before, but this year we think we'll give it a try and wonder what "the tricks of the trade" are.

Thanks.

Ponchos store at the very bottom. On top of that is the cam corder, digital camera, and the autograph book (made from home -- very thick with pictures of all the characters on individual pages to sign).I've usually laminated a page with PS times and confirmation numbers, as well as the photocopies of the backs of all our tickets in case we get somewhere and they have gone missing. I usually include some little travel things (pad and pen, travel doodle, etc) for longer waits before parades or in longer lines. That leaves room in there for any goodies we pick up, like t-shirts or photo-ops, through the day. We have one backpack for the four of us, and trade off between DH, myself, and DS (11). Our December trips keep us from needed the mister fans and sunblock that are vital to summer trips, though.

I haven't taken a backpack before either but this time I'm going to take a camera back pack. I have a long barreled digital camera with some attachments and "extra" stuff.

Im just curious how this all works out with riding rides. What do you do with your backpacks then?

:D I think its normal to simply store any bags around your feet when riding rides. However, for wet rides (specifically, Kali River Rapids at AK) there is a space in the middle of the raft to store bags and cameras- keeping them mostly dry unless there is a large bag lodging the lid open!

I dont use a backpack. I make sure eveyone has there own fanny pack to carry there own stuff. I have seen people wear there backpack backwards on rides. I looks like it would work on most rides. I dont know about the kind that has a bar that comes down over your shoulders though.

Ponchos are a must. Wipes and hand gel. Snacks, Water. Definitely need the bandaids and Tylenol. Camcorder and Digital camera. Sunglasses. Extra shirt for the kids.

We never use a locker, my husband and I swap and sometimes we have a stroller. On trips without a stroller, we just carry it on everything that we do. (can't bring it on Roc N Roller so you will have to get a locker if you do that.)

We take a small backpack ( which I am always the pack mule of the family and has to carry it) It has asprin, bandaids,a bottle or two of water and a camera if we don't forget it in the room:upsidedow

We always take a backpack on RNR . my wife and I both carry a backpack she takes the poncho's and camera I carry the lunch. All 4 of us carry fanny packs with a small water bottle holder.

We don't use backpacks.

Hubby has the basket on the ECV which carries our water bottles when we go as a family, but I have cargo pants/shorts. The wallet goes in the back pocket, the cell phone goes in one of the cargos, the disposable rain poncho goes in the other cargo and park ticket and room key go in a badge holder on a pull string that attaches to my belt loop.

If I'm traveling solo without hubby, basically the same thing, except that I have a slimline hydration pack that I wear inbetween two shirts so I don't have to stop for bag check.
