Hey, I was just wondering if it was a hassle to carry around a backpack in the parks? Is it difficult to leave when you get on a ride and pick it up when you get off?? I am planning on using a backpack to carry around little things ill need throuhgout the day so i wanted to know if it was going to be more of a nuisance than a convenience...please let me know...thanks

Disney!!!August 19th-September 2nd...

i carried a small one when i went down with out kids for me and dh's honeymoon, i just took the two straps of the back and did my legs through them... with feet planed on the floor it road most rides just fine... i was thinking there is one ride that you absolutly can't do this... but can't remember off the top of my head what it is and there are small 1 time use lockers at these...
when i take kids i just leave my back in the stroller and pray!

We had no problems either. Backpacks are awesome especially with children. On a ride? Put it between your legs. No problem.

I have always felt like it was more trouble than it's worth. I usually don't carry more with me than would fit in a fanny pack. Even though I would never carry one of those in "real life" I find that they are really helpful when going around the parks. I often get tired of wearing it and just take it off and throw it over my shoulder, but when getting on and off rides it's so nice not to have anyting to carry.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO problem at all. Use one all the time. I carry water bottles, camera, autograph books, ALEVE, sundries...etc. Great for stuffing souveniers, holding refillable mugs (from your resort that am).

You will see MANY people with backpacks @ WDW! Never posed any problem on any attraction.

I had no problems with my MilSpec CamelBak M.U.L.E.

Now that i have done a vacation with a camelbak, i wont leave home without it, Fully loaded its only about 10 pounds, the strap system makes it seem much lighter. Sure standing around in line it can get a bit annoying, and it leaves your back a bit sweaty, but 3L of cool water (Cold with ice, but dosnet last more than half the day) makes all the difference. I was able to fit my camera, a spare frozen water bottle and the rest of the small stuff for 2 people to have fun the park.

One tip no matter what you choose, Pack stuff in plastic bags, like ziplock or grocery bags incase your caught in the rain :D

Also for the WET rides..keep your cameras & watches dry!

Just wanted to let you know that you don't leave your personal items at the rides. You must take them on the ride with you. Now I've carried a backpack and have never had a problem bringing it onto the rides. You can rent lockers at the parks if you want to leave it so you can ride without the bulk.

It can be a hassle Depending on how big it is. Also the weight will play a factor.

I LOVE the family backpack because DH has to carry all our stuff. We still use fanny packs to keep money, sunglasses, etc in, but put the camera, rain ponchos, camcorder, bottles of water, sunscreen, and a light jacket in the backpack. I need to research this camelback idea...

I've seen families where each family member is carrying a backpack and I cannot for the earth of me figure out what is so important to lug around. I can see if you have little kids and you need diapers, etc., but just lugging around all the junk? I have a fanny pack and my little digital camera. I loop the poncho over my belt. My husband never carries anything except for his poncho looped over his belt. My son uses a fanny pack sometimes, other times only is poncho.

With the heat, I can't imagine dragging all the extra stuff around.

Another backpack girl here. Mine is on the heavy side but much lighter by end of day. Autograph books, camera, water (usually 2 frozen bottles and 4 refrig. - DD has dehydration problem), snacks, small games for on line, glow bracelets, flashlight, first aid. I also will add a book if on a solo trip for dining or waiting for shows.

I like the convienience of having things with me. It saves time and money (so I can spend it on Illumanations cruises and backstage tours). I take it on all the rides, no problem.

Dh carried our backpack and he says it wasnt a hassle. He did say that if it was just the 2 of us, he wouldnt take it.

If we didn't have the kids with us I wouldn't take mine but you know how much stuff kids add ;) I pack my notes, sunscreen, autograph books, wallet, cell phone, plastic bag, a washcloth in a ziplock (to wet and rub on hot faces/necks), etc. My backpack is small enough that I could keep wearing it on some rides or like everyone else said, put your legs thru the straps. I couldn't do without it :earsgirl:

What did you do with your backpack on Soarin? I understand the floor drops out on that ride...

Thanks.

Soaring has baskets underneath your seats to put your personal items. I got small backpacks for myself and 3 dds. (Got tired of carrying 5 water bottles and 5 ponchos for everyone.) They are just big enough for the water bottle, poncho, and Pal Mickey for the girls. I end up with the sunscreen and other "esentials" in mine. Never had an issue on the rides.

They tell you before takeoff to put personal items in the basket beneath your seat. It easily held my bagalleni bag, so the bagalleni went 'soarin' with me.
