Well, that time of the year for me anyway. I have always bought the kids Land's End backpacks (they used the same one K - 5, then I bought them a new one for 6 - 8) and have never been disappointed.

Right now their backpack (8th grade) is already packed so full it is ridiculous. I know I will need to get them a little bigger one for HS. I would love some recommendations from the Land's End line or any other line.

Thanks and have a great day.

LL Bean. They are big, last forever and come in colors/designs. :)

Our Middle school and high schoolers mostly carry book bags right now. DD hasn't had an actual backpack for several years, they were too "elementary". Most of the kids just use tote type bags here.

I was going to add my high school son carries a messenger bag- most boys in his school use those- and the girls are carrying mostly totes of some kind of messenger bags too.

Any bag from LLBEAN. I've still got both my high school backpack and my college messenger bag from them and they are still in great condition. I will not tell you how long I've been out of college..lol

LL BEAN does have college sized backpacks. My middle and high schoolers have these. They are huge.:)

You can't kill an LLbean. On the off chance that you do, their customer service is amazing!! I still have mine from High School.

You don't say if your children are girls or boys, but I have had great luck with the Vera Bradley large backpack. I know it is more expensive and not suitable for boys, but my DD13's has lasted two years. I bought her another on sale for next year!

Some high schools do not allow the kids to carry backpacks around with them during the day. Many kids at our school use UnderArmor bags. They are a bit pricey, but they are sturdy. Our first year in high school we used the bag all day...then we moved and the kids aren't allowed to carry backpacks, this backpack will last a while.

This was popular at our high school too...for the girls.:thumbsup2

LL Bean all the way! Yes they are expensive, especially buying for 5 boys. The oldest ones got new 2 years ago, anyway the oldest managed to get a small hole in the corner of his. He had used it for a whole year. We took it back to the store and they replaced it! No questions asked! They hold a ton, I am always asking my kids if they have a body stuffed in their bags because they are so heavy! :goodvibes

I made it through high school and college with two Jansport backpacks with the leather bottoms. I have the second one and it still looks pretty good.
