Backpacking

But has anyone gone backpacking in Europe?
(or is planning on it?)

I've been recently asked by a couple people to go. (Approaching the end of high school, all the big plans and dreams and adventures coming)

Yeah, I was just wondering what it was like and such.

P.S-recently saw the movie 'Hostel' scared me to death of staying in a hostel and all eastern european countries. =] (yeap. I'm a dork )

I might go backpacking in the Smokey Mountains this summer.

I wouldn't pay a million dollars to see that movie, to violent for me. I do want to go backpacking through Europe but the costs are to much. I barely have enough for my Wedding and Car, adding a major trip would make me go bankrupt. Lol. Maybe someday..Someday .

I backpacked Germany this past summer. It was a blast. I was actually surprised at how nice the hostels were. The only thing was the "group" showers, but you get over it. Any questions, ask away

Thats awesome!! Did it cost you loads of money? Because I think that would be my big problem, my parents paid for my trip to Paris last year...don't think I could get away with that again ;p

Group showers though eh?Don't know if I could get used to that ;p

If I remember right it was about $1500 for 3 weeks. And most of that was for the flight.
Yah group showers deffinatly werent the highlight of my trip. Some hostels have showers in the room.

I might go backpacking in the Smokey Mountains this summer.

I love the smokey mountains. They are beautiful in the early morning. I live about three hours away from them, and when we went to Gatlinburg we drove through them to get to North Carolina. We stopped at EVERY view point and took pictures.

Well 1500$ isn't too bad I suppose. Especially if most of it is for the flight.

Wow, I would love to go backpacking through Europe! I went to Europe last year on a school trip and absolutely loved it, and I would love to go back. If I were you, I would take this oppurtunity.

I met tons of people. Everyone was so friendly. A lot of Europeans speak at least some english, so its really easy to just sit down and start up a conversation. Pretty much every night we would go down to a "commons" area and just hang out with whoever else was there. And thats one reason why I would stay at a hostel instead of a hotel. You meet lots of cool people, and its cheap.
