Backpack Question

So, I know that for quite a few of the rides, one of us will stay with our littlest one (he's 2), and in that case if we want to do ride swap its my understanding that we'll have to park the stroller and then head in to line together, wait for the other family members to finish and then swap. I'm guessing at that point I can swap kids as well as backpacks, etc with him.
But what about the rides we can all go on... what do you do with your stuff? We'll need to bring a diaper bag, etc with us... Surely you don't leave it with the stroller, so can you take it on the more mild rides?

You don't have to wait in line to do the swap anymore. Simply see the CM at the ride entrance (with your entire party) and ask for a rider switch pass. This pass allows you to go through the FP lane with a total of 3 people at any time that day. So if you have 2 older kids, they can ride twice in a row. First with one parent, either through FP lane or standby and then again with other parent through FP lane using the switch pass. Note this is only for rides with restrictions and you must have a child that does not meet the requirements (e.g. Space mtn, Splash mtn) in order to get the pass. As for the backpack, I just leave mine in the stroller when we go on rides.

Most rides that you'll all be able to go on will either have a storage pouch for bags or you can put your backpack between your feet. We never leave our backpack because it has our essentials for the day and we wouldn't want to lose them (diapers, wipes, snacks, extra clothes).

Just think of the rider swap as being a FP for 3. So if you only have 3 who want to ride, you do not need any additional FP's. What is really nice is that a combo of FP's and the rider switch let your kids ride twice in a row. For example, if you have 2 parents, and 3 kids (including one little one who is too small to ride), get 3 FP's, all 5 return at designated time, all 5 go to CM, get switch pass, dad and kids go through FP lane with 3 FP's and ride, after they get off mom and kids go through FP lane with switch pass.

This keeps your other two tickets' FP options open. Combining the FP's and swtich passes the right way can really let kids ride a lot.

Backpacks can go on almost everything as long as you are willing to hold it, have on seat next to you (if there is room) or have it under your feet. Personally, I just don't like being that cramped and having to lug backpack through line. I have never had an issue leaving the backpack in the stroller. It does not contain valuables. Number of rides that do allow backpacks is too many to list, but most of the rides are small cars - think pooh, dumbo, peter pan - just sit it next to you or put it on ground under your kids legs. I think the only thing you would not want to have backpack on is the coasters.

Thanks Deva! I'm a photographer so I'll definitely have my camera with me and won't want to leave it unattended. If we do rider swap its no issue because one of us will always be with the stroller, but on the other rides, I'm glad to know I can put it on the floor of the ride!

I bought an awesome backpack at Epcot many years ago and I still use every time we go to DW. It fits on every ride we go on without a problem, usually by my feet. I wouldn't worry!
