I know at Disneyland you can pretty much take a backpage or a fanny pack on any ride. What about Knott's? Are any bags allowed? I often carry my phone and cameral on a fanny pack. Would that be allowed on the rides?

NO bags allowed on anything roller-coaster-like. They are very strict -- my DH keeps trying different things to circumvent it. Only thing he has found that worked was this running belt, worn bandolier-style underneath a bowling shirt, so he could pull it out between rides. When he tried to wear it as a fanny pack they made him take it off.

They have cubbies on the far side of the ride platform to put backpacks/fanny packs in. Most rides only have 2 trains running, so your stuff isn't left for long.

You will be able to take your bag on every thing except the rollercosters. For these, you will need to put your bag, hats, glasses, and other loose items in one of the cubbyholes on the far side of the trains. If they are running more than one train, they will slide a door over the section of the cubby with your trains' stuff. We used them for our visit last Dec and all was good.

I'd say if it's not visible at all (and in no danger of falling out) he can probably keep things in the cargo shorts. I had a dime falling from Silver Bullet land right in front of me while walking under the ride! And you are banged around -- our point-and-shoot camera "inexplicably" broke after riding in DH's cargo shorts at Knotts.
