Can anyone recommend a backpack diaper bag? I want to use it for traveling.

Thanks!

I have a Petunia Pickle Bottom boxy backpack. It can have backpack straps, or you can change the straps to be a shoulder bag.

We have one made by Colombia. We got it at Babies R Us. It is orange and gray and I love it. I now use it almost exclusively instead of my more traditional diaper bag.

Really cute bags, but WOW!!! the price is a little more than I wanted to spend.

I saw this one, but I can't find any interior pictures. I am going to check at BRU and see if they have it on the shelf.

We have a Ju-ju-be backpack diaperbag. They have videos so you can see everything they do. :)

I have the Be Right Back and my sil has the Packabe

I really like this one too, but again, the price is a little more than I wanted to spend.

Did you guys get the expensive ones for shower gifts or did you buy them yourself? I think my dh would kill me if I spent that much on a bag.

My sil and I bought ours through a "co-op/group buy". A bunch of people get together and buy bags together and get the wholesale price, plus 18% fee. There are also sites like "mamabargains.com" that have Fleurville diaper bags and loads of other baby things for about 60-80% off. :thumbsup2

I bought mine myself, I had to really beg DH for it.:rotfl: Every so often Petunia Pickle Bottom has outlet sales and you can get them for a good bit off. I can't remember what I paid for mine, but it definately was not full price.

lol! That would be me. You must have done a really good job for him to give in.

Where do I find info about the outlet sales?

You have to sign up for their email list. They will usually send an email a week or so before letting you know when the outlet sale will be, and the morning of they will send you a special link.

Awesome! Thanks! I just signed up for mamabargains.com also. We aren't traveling until July so I've got some time.

Thanks for your help!

If you are on FB, babysteals will have the PPB from time to time.

I also had the Columbia backpack, as did several of my friends. All 3 of us have had significant tearing in the backpack, to the point that it could no longer be used. Mine was never, ever overstuffed and nothing was ever done to it that could have caused the tearing. The largest hole was 4 inches long, and that one was in the parent portion. I had one other hole elsewhere as well. All of my friends and I bought the backpack within the last 18 months, and all of ours were ripping within 6 months. I contacted Columbia, and they didn't seem to have a problem with it.

I have a Skip Hop diaper bag backpack that I love. I use this for long outings out and for traveling. I used it for 10 days at WDW a couple of months ago and it worked great!! I kept stuff for the baby, for me and my 4 year old in it. We were at the parks all day everyday and it held everything I needed.

It's comfortable to wear, and it has fantastic stroller clips.

We loved our Land's End backpack diaper bag. Didn't look like a diaper bag, extra compartments, and a cool slot behind the straps for the cushy changing pad!

Unfortunately we purchased it when dd (now 9yo) was 1yo and they don't seem to carry a backpack version anymore. :sad1:

I do not have an official backpack diaper bag, but i have an llbean backpack with many different compartments that I use a diaper bag and it works great. Plus the price is much better than an official diaper bag.

Definitely keep an eye on the deal-a-day sites. On zulily.com I've gotten a Ju-Ju-Be MiniBe for $40 and a Bumble Bag Samantha bag for $36. They had the larger Ju-Ju-Be bags on there as well, for $60-80. You can also keep an eye on babysteals.com and babyhalfoff.com for deals on bags.

I have a Gerber sling backpack diaper bag that I got free at the hospital. It is plain black, so even my husband will wear it. It is insulated/waterproof on the inside, so we can even carry bottles of water or cans of soda for ourselves.

I have the columbia backpack from BRU. I've been using it for over a year now as our primary diaper bag, including 10+ plane flights, and it's been great.

That's odd. I wonder if it was a bad batch. Some good friends of ours also have it and have 2 diaper aged young children. I have twins and I can tell you I do overstuff this bag, a lot. I am not at all gentle to it either.

I bought it after tons and tons of glowing reviews. All of the friends that I have that have not had issues purchased their bags 2 or more years ago. And like you, they have all gotten tons of wear and tear and abuse.

But spending $50, I expect it to last at least a year. I'm currently using a Vera Bradley tote, which I obviously like, but hubby's not so thrilled with the pattern, and it's a bit bulkier than what I want.

I have thought about getting the Skip Hop Backpack Diaper bag, as one of my friends that had the Columbia bag now uses that, but it just seems huge and bigger than what I want.

I've also got another friend that is looking into getting the LLBean backpack diaperbag.
