For those of you who have been on this lately, is the preshow still the Pearl Harbor skit? Has anything else changed in the past 1.5 years? Just wondering.
Don't exactly know what you mean by Pearl Harbor skit but the first scene is still the one in the water tank with the volunteer in a PT boat type wheelhouse and air cannons blasting in the water
It is the same as 5 years ago
By the way the rest of the tour is basically worthless except for the earthquake scene if you have never been there before
If you've done the tour previously, skip it and use your time better
Yes it's still the Pearl Harbor effect. They have set a minimum age for volunteers (16 years old), which I think is new, since my DD and I volunteered in May, and she was only 14.
Thanks. I have been on this before, but was only going to invest the time if the preshow had changed. I think seeing it a couple of times is enough for me.
I have enjoyed the Back Lot Tour in the past, and probably will do it again during my upcoming visit. But I have always wondered why they have those TV screens lined up there near the roof during the water skit. I have never been able to see anything on those screens because of the glare from the water, and the natural light. In other words, why not take the TVs out? They tend to distract from the skit.
The only thing I noticed different this year from last year was the addition of the bone cage from Pirates II to the bone yard. (No pun intended.) Everything else seemed to be the same.
Yep, Pearl Harbor. They should put in the making of POC 2, that would be cool. DH & I wondered why they would leave Walt Disney's private plane outside where it will corrode eventually..should be in a museum..hey, I love Walt Disney! The cage from POC2 was cool to see but unfortunately my kids & I haven't seen alot of the movies so it was kinds lost of them & myself.

The CM's record the various small scenes of the "volunteers" peforming live (with the various water effects) and then those scenes are shown on the TV screens "edited together" in a short special effects "film" after you watch them live the first time through.
If you just walk on thru the "water effects" area, you'll end up down at the restrooms and entrance to the "prop storage" (queue for the trams).
It all depends on your timing.
If they have just let a group go down there after the "water effects," that group will be boarding the trams as YOUR group is (supposed to be) watching the "water effects".
You COULD, I suppose, just ASK the loading CM at the entrance to the "water effects" area, if you can move on ahead to join the previous group.
Yep Robo, I was aware of the intended use for the screens; but in fact, I've never been able to see the clips because of the glare, making them useless.
