I'm transportation for fall '11. I recently got pulled over for a speeding ticket (65 in a 40) I was wondering if this is a big enough thing to prevent me from participating? I have a feeling it isn't but I cant stop worrying about it.

Since you're in transportation, it might be big deal, especially since it's such a big gap between the speed limit an dyour acyal speed. But I think only Disney could really tell you.

Some states will allow you to take an online traffic school which can prevent points from showing up on your record ... It may help and will certainly keep insurance rates down.

Its normally a 50 but its a construction zone (no workers present), so if it goes in my record it goes in for exceeding the maximum speed limit in a construction zone. It is the first mark on my record so I dont really know what will happen

I am sort of doubtful that it would affect you since the only transportation options available to CPers is Monorails and Watercraft. You wouldn't be able to work in Buses unless you have over 7 years of driving on your record or over 23 (I think, it might be 24). Was your ticket a considered a criminal offense? I believe that criminal activity is what Disney is looking for in your background check.

In most states they are considered criminal offenses. Here in South Carolina they can even be considered and arrest. It always states the "Arresting Officer" on the ticket.:sad2:

No its not a criminal offense, its a minor traffic offense which most companies (including Disney) don't even considered a misdemeanor.

Again, it will depend on your state, but most states consider reckless driving as a Class B misdemeanor, our state of Indiana does. You did state you were going 65 in a 40 limit zone and at least in our state that is considered reckless driving since you were speeding 25 over the limit.

Check your ticket and check with your state laws, state DMV to find out for sure.

I think it should be fine as others have mentioned they are more concerned with criminal activity than traffic violations. You could also contact casting for the answers as well to be sure. That would be my suggestion and they could give you the correct answer, rather than just speculation.

The only issue you may run into is that your background check takes longer than others and they may need to reschedule your traditions...but that is just a guess on my part.

FIGHT IT! The only speeding ticket I ever got, I opted to fight it instead of pay it. Got my court date, showed up nice and early, got called up to talk to the prosecutor, and didn't even finish my story before he told me to head on home and that the ticket was being thrown out =)

Totally, rule of vehicle tickets ALWAYS challenge it. Even if they don't throw out the case no matter what you always get a discount on the ticket price.

On the CP application it asks you if you have anything that will show up on your record card but they specifically say that minor traffic offenses do not count. If it were something like a DUI or offense such as that then it would affect you but speeding should not.

My suggestion is to call Casting and ask.

I was Transportation on my CP 2 years ago and loved every minute of it! Congrats on an AMAZING role!

In the state of South Carolina it is indeed a criminal offense. Most companies won't mind if it's on a back ground check for a job that doesn't consist of driving but in a lot of states traffic violations are considered arrests. Maybe yours isn't and thats great! I hope that it isn't!
