1. If all your going to do at Disney is complain, why go?

2. If all your going to do at Disney is drink by the pool while your kids swim until midnight, why go? (Isn't this cheaper to do closer to home?!)

3. If all your going to do at Disney is yell at the people you came with (I'm talking adults yelling at adults), why go with those people?

OK.... rant over. :lmao:

On the up side, we had a blast! Just observed many UNHAPPY people there. ;)

And I have tales of line cutters, the dining plan, and the so called "preffered" rooms at Pop. I plan to start my trip report this evening.... :goodvibes

1) Umm.. yeah I don't get this. I guess being at the Happiest Place on Earth isn't good enough for many people.
2) Um... I don't know anything about this.
3) Yelling is a form of control and power.

I think American is the land of the unhappy. I honostly don't know how you can go do WDW and not be happy. To me its like the natural (and very expensive) anti-depressant. Sometimes I'm so happy there I just want to cry. I'm not going to get into reasons why people are unhappy all the time.. but I know when I went with my sister in 2004 (and she is an unhappy person) it was a very difficult trip. Unhappy people drag you down. ARGH for unhappy people. HAHA

About people being unhappy at Disney I think one reason may be the following.

There is so much to do at Disney!!!! Seriously here me out because I have found myself the victim of this at times as well, especially when it is crowded. You spend your $40-70 on a ticket lets say and you want to get your money's worth. So you want to get up early and stay late. So you get up at 7:30 in the morning and you don't get back to your hotel room till 11:30. It was hot all day. You probably walked more than you have all year. You have been standing up on lines all day, which noone can prepare for, short of joining the marines. You have eaten terrible Disney $!%* burgers for food. Now this is the third day in a row you have done this.

Now the little things that your DW,DH, DS do that would never bother you all of a sudden drive you nuts. Its like a version of "roid rage"....."dis rage" I guess you could call it.

Either way its a balance with all the money you are spending you really do want to get the most out of Disney but you don't want to burn yourself and end up ruining the trip for everyone!!!

1.I don't know. That's a question my mother in law would be better to answer.

2.How do you know they were by the pool all day? They could have been there during the evening hours. Alot of kids like to swim at night, and the parents go up to the bar, and have a few drinks, talk to some out-of-towners. I do this.

3.Well, I certainly don't spend ALL my vacation time yelling, but being someplace for a week with your family, the adults are bound to have disagreements. The kid(s) act up, get on your nerves, and temperatures boil over. It's breif, but does happen.

i must say that even though at the time we didn't have kids, we did drink by the pool at night, often until late...but that didn't mean we were there all day...

But then again that was just us :)

glad you had a great trip!

I agree- I think the stress gets to people.

You want to get so much done and it's hot and you're tired and your kids are tired and the line for Splash Mountain is 2 hours long and you just want a Fast Pass but they are all out because the kid with the sticky fingers in line at the FP machines in front of you took the last one and just dripped his ice cream on your toe and now your toe is sticky on top of being sunburnt and you just want to see Brer Rabbit but 2 hours of screaming sweaty kids/cranky adults are in front of you waiting for their 13 minutes of excitement too.

Wow. When you look at it like that- why do people go to Disney? :lmao:

I think that sometimes people get lost in the "trying to get things done" and forget they are on a vacation and should just take it slow sometimes and enjoy everything. I even find myself doing the same thing sometimes and have to catch myself.

And I think that drinking by the pool is a perfectly good pastime. ;)

Hopefully you don't take offense to this, but my question is why do you care? If they want to pay to sit by the pool in disney world what does it matter to you?

I think this is the biggest dilema with going to WDW. My DH and I always say for such a happy place why does everyone look so miserable???

What most people do not understand about WDW is that it is not to be discovered all in 1 visit. There is no "getting your money's worth" out of the ticktes. The tickets are the cost of admission to the parks, getting your money's worth out of it has a different meaning. Going commando does not make for a happy trip. If there is a long line for SM, don't stand on it....there are a million other things to do. It is vacation after all. Sleep a little late, or get up early and go to bed when your tired.
You will be amazed at what you do see when you slow down. It's not always about how many rides you can get in or if your the first to wake up Tink. These boards can be helpful, but all the nuances and "pixie dust" gets ruined if you don't allow your trip to just unfold. Where you are in WDW is where you are supposed to be!

And about the food, well food can be as good as you want it to be. Just like when you are at home,if you eat garbage you will feel like garbage. There are plenty of choices out there, you don't have to eat burgers if you don't want to.

I think the lesson this point gets across is, If you're going to worry about what other people do on vacation... you will end up just as stressed and p***ed off as they are! So relax and just don't care. If it don't hurt you, it don't hurt you.

Ummm....we're actually going to be doing this in a few weeks with two other couples at CSR. :rolleyes1 Can't wait! :woohoo:

People look to a Disney vacation as a fix for their problems. But it doesn't fix em, it brings them out and highlights them. Hence why all the yelling and stuff.
Too many go down before they're financially ready. They charge up the cards, etc and that creates even more stress and more pressure of dadgummit I paid X for this now you go have fun kid by my definition of fun. Ride that ride, walk on those feet, march!!! Plus you need some down time by the pool and stuff like that on any vacation no matter how much you're paying.

If you grip about how hot it is, how crowded it is, how expensive it is, how horrable the food is, then why would you want to be there?

These kind of people just don't get it about Disney, and they probably would grip about any vacation they ever took.

i think some people are just unhappy anywhere they are... i remember seeing a family once on the monorail who looked so unhappy together it seemed like it wasn't just a few min. thing..( they never spoke a word but they never looked at each other either and their body language was so tense, like they hated to be near each other...this was yrs ago but the image sticks with me) maybe they are going through the motions "for the kids"? :confused3 unfortunately disney doesn''t fix all the serious problems you might have brought with you

Odd we found Mom and Dad sipping a few cocktails while DD had a swim in the evening yes sometimes late, was a perfect wind down to a long day in the parks.

Now some others there were had dedinitely been there alot longer than us.

I've noticed that the people who compain the most are the ones who knew the least when they arrived...

they didn't know the prices of the CS food (which isn't any worse than any other theme park or mall food court) or what dining choices are available (much less that they need to make ADR months in advance to eat with the Princesses)

they didn't know the size and scope of WDW (walk from one park to the other, see everything in a couple of days, etc)

they didn't know the hours or crowd conditions to expect (you mean if I show up at the park at noon in July it will be crowded and I won't get to ride much)

they didn't know how the fast pass system works (or that there even was one)

they didn't know that by doing less, they could enjoy what the do more.

Of course there is also the ones who are unhappy because they know too much (or they think they do)... they know every ride, every hour each park is open, all crowd conditions, the weather, every character meal and greeting... and they want to cram all of it into one 5 day trip. They are too busy worrying about what they are missing that they can't enjoy what they are doing... been there, done that, glad I'm over it. ;)

You read my mind! I think you summed it up wonderfully!!! :thumbsup2

I fully agree on 1 & 3, but as for 2, thats exactly what I will be doing in July. We go 2 to 3 times per year as AP holders and DVC members and we enjoy being on Disney property.

In July, I have booked a room at Beach Club Inn and you will find me at StormAlong Bay more than in the parks.

I have a pool at home, but at home when I look up I see a tree, at Disney I look up and see Spaceship Earth. Not even close. :rotfl2:

Thats the great thing about Disney, everyone finds their magic at different places doing different things.

No offense taken. Was just putting "voice" to some of my random thoughts. The crabby people I encountered just made me smile and realize how lucky I was that I was there having fun!

I think some people need to remember its VACATION. Have fun, relax. Disney is not all about hitting all the rides at seeing everyting. Its about the place anad the atmosphere and enjoying youself. :sunny:

Ok, I think I may have mistyped my thought.

What I meant were the people who were obvisouly drunk (and I mean DRUNK/staggering/can't find their chair again/DRUNK). We saw this a few times coming home after closing out the park. I'm all for having an umbrella drink! :) And we were staying at Pop. Not exactly great views from the pool! :lmao: Not that I'm complaining! We loved Pop since all we did was sleep and occasionally swim. We spent most of our time in the parks.

Another funny random thought:

We were standing in line to see Captain Hook outside of POC pirate: and some lady was complaining to the handler about how POC was her favorite ride and how sad she was that it was closed! And you could tell by her tone she was wanting the CM to say "Oh, JUST KIDDING! We'll reopen the ride just for YOU since it's your FAVORITE!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I just kept thinking, ...Um, it's called the internet and it's at every public library. If your spending all this money to go to WDW, wouldn't you want to check at the very least the WDW website to see if "fav" rides were closed? And further more, since POC is your favorite ride you have obvisouly been to Disney before, and probably know that rides do shut down for refurb occasionally....

:smooth:
