Well - most of us DCL cruisers have finished with our summer vacations :goodvibes and have started to plan our trip to Paris (DLP) and then onto the Disney Magic in Barcelona.

First - How bad are the crowds in August - most of us will be there from 8/13 to 8/17 ?

Second - Due to costs (and the need to budget) about 4 families will be staying at the Holiday Inn - from what I read - the hotel is decent - and we should be fine. Any thing in particular we need to know?

Third - Any recommendations for a shuttle bus company. There will be about 15 of us leaving on the 17th for the sleeper train to Barcelona. I'm thinking with the amount of luggage we will have - it will be easier to have a bus to the train station in Paris (we will be going on a 14 night cruise after the parks).

Fourth - Sorta of the same - but since our time in France is limited - and most of us plan 2 to 3 days in the parks - we will only have 1 day to go into Paris and hit the highlights. Are there any private tour companies that you know of ?

Thanks for your help

Erica

Hi again :wave2:

Although you are in the height of summer since you are not there at the weekend the parks are doable. Fastpasses for Peter Pan will be gone by lunch-time but early arrival will ensure that you'll be able to see and enjoy the parks.

Holiday Inn is a nice selected hotel.

Have a look at the useful info thread. RS Transport seem to have been used by a few posters so hopeful others can give their own recommendations :)

There is a tour bus that leaves from Hotel New York. Mind you most others have said it was cheaper and easier to take the RER into Paris and hit the sites from there. Paris metro is relatively easy to find you way around.

It is busy but if you start early and then have a pause andthen go back in the evening it will be fine.

I really like this hotel. If they are booking online try to get the breakfast included in the reservation or plan to eat elsewhere as it is expensive to book onsite

We went by RER into the city and took the toourist bus. This came with a commentary and you can hop on and off wherever you like.

We did this too, it was very easy to catch the RER in and back and I found the commentary on the bus was actually very interesting. We only had time to get off at the Eiffel Tower so it was good to be able to see some other sights from the bus and learn a little about them.
This is the tour company we used.

Thanks for all the replies .... the tour looks good - and I already sent them an email. We will have a couple of french speakers in our group (from Canada) .... but narrated tours sound good.
