Back Saturday from CBR - any questions?

DH and I returned Saturday night from six days at the CBR. We thought the resort was fabulous. Once we made the decision to stay there, I got all the info I needed about it from Safetymom's excellent CBR FAQ site (thanks, Safetymom!) without ever having to post a question, and Dreams Unlimited got us a great rate. I requested Jamaica, building 45 and got it with no problem - even got a front corner room facing the water and the walkway to Old Port Royale. We felt the room was very spacious, and it was quiet. We hardly ever heard anyone else. Refrigerator was in the room in a small cabinet next to the TV armoire. Bus service was excellent - I don't think we ever waited more then ten minutes, usually less. We were very impressed with the selections at the food court and how well it handled large numbers of people. We didn't get to experience the pools, but they were very inviting. Gift shop was much larger than I thought it would be. Added bonus was being able to see Wishes and Illuminations fireworks from the balcony. (It's true, the last barrage of holiday ending fireworks from Illuminations does set off car alarms at CBR - I witnessed it.) I'm sure there's more I could say, but I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

Glad to hear you had a great time. Could you do me a favor and cut and paste your comments into the CBR FAQ II thread? That way others can see your comments when planning their trips.

jaysmom - you may have gotten our favorite room - was it 4556? Last May (2003), we were upgraded to that room for free. It was in the left hand front corner of the bldg. with a great view of the walkbridge and the lake. We are actually hoping (may be a long shot!) that we will get that same room on our stay in January:)

DNBois - close, we were in 4553. I was under the impression that corner rooms cost more money, but we weren't charged any more. It's a great location, close to everything.

How big are the fridge in the room. I want to hold 1 gallon of milk and some OJ for the kids or do I get 1/2 gallon if it is small

Thanks

hi Jaysmom

I'm staying there for my upcoming trip, is Jamaica a preferred building. and how do you do your request? did u ask for it when you booked your ressies?

Jamaica is not a preferred location costing extra. You used to be able to fax the resort with your requests but most of them are ignoring faxes these days. Just call central reservations and have your requests noted in your reservation. You can also ask again when you check in.

jaysmom,
Glad you had a great trip to CBR I will be there in 9 days myself :)

mar915 - the refrigerator is a decent dorm-sized fridge, with no freezer compartment to take up interior space, and it does have storage in the door. I don't remember the inside dimensions precisely, but it might be tricky getting a gallon container of milk to fit without taking out a shelf or something. Two half gallons, though, wouldn't be a problem and would probably go in the door, or at least you could lay them sideways on a shelf. One thing we found with our fridge was that we had to turn it way up to get it to keep things cold. It was set on 3 (out of 5), and my water was barely cool. After I turned it up to 5, the water was cold. I've heard others say that a setting of 5 froze their things, so you may want to experiment with it when you get there.

Dawn77 - it's like SafetyMom said. We went through Dreams Unlimited and had them note this preference on our reservatation. We also asked at check-in and had no problem getting just what we wanted. We also checked in pretty early in the morning, which undoubtedly helped us get our first choice.

Hi: Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Do those rooms automatically have a fridge, or did you have to request one.

Deb.

Ours was in the room. I know that all mods and deluxes are getting fridges, some before others, obviously. I think all rooms in CBR now have them. It's in a cabinet next to the entertainment center - you wouldn't know it was a fridge unless you opened the door.

Hi again.

I did not know that all mod's and deluxes are getting fridges. Do they raise the room rate/or add extra to our hotel bill, or are they giving us a perk in our room.

Thanks,

Deb.

I don't belive that the room rates went up, at least not because of this. We made our reservation before the fridges were added. I know our rates would have been locked in regardless, but I did some checking after that, and the basic room rate was still the same. So I guess it is just an added perk.
