Back Pack or Fanny Pack

Just curious? I have a fanny pack, also going to purchase one for my 8 year old daughter to wear, but would a back pack be better? I'm concerned about the backpack getting in the way on the rides. A want to bring my digital camera also, (it is not a small flat one) I was going to keep it in the fanny pack, but wonder about rides with water. Does anyone have any advice?

When I go to one of the parks I like to carry as little as possible. (Which for me, when I'm on a solo trip amounts to nothing more than my billfold.) If I had to take a fanny pack or a back pack, there's no contest ... the fanny pack wins hands down.

We always bring a back pack - not a full size one...it is just big enough to hold a camera, wallet, some first aid (band aids, tums, wet wipes), cell phone, etc.

My DH (cool guy that he thinks he is! ) refuses to be seen with a fanny pack so if I were to bring one, I would be stuck with it all the time. With a back pack, he pitches in carrying it around. I have never found it cumbersome, I just slip out of it before I get on a ride and hold it in front of me. Otherwise, I barely notice it is there.

i have used both. but like the fanny pack better. found with the backpack it was hot on my back and i tended to carry more stuff than i actually used/needed. as for your camera getting wet...i waterproofed my fannypack. just go the camping section of your fave store (walmart, target, etc) and for about 4 bucks you can by waterproofing spray. works great!

I agree the absolute smaller the better.. I hate carrying anything around the parks---go with the fanny pack.

I agree with the fanny pack. I also have a digital camera that is larger than most and was able to find a great one at Kmart that holds my camera, cell phone and a small wallet, plus still have a little room left over and it's waterproof already I never have trouble with it while on the rides.

I did recently discover a great backpack that LL Bean sells which is better for your back (I believe its called the Healthy Backpack). They come in a few sizes and I found it helpful on my recent cruise for carry items. I may try it out one day on our next trip to WDW to see how it works at the park, but I'll bring my fanny pack just in case.

I would never carry a back pack. I use a waist pouch (fanny pack?) I want my hands free, and no worry of loosing anything. With a back pack, you must take it off and on all the time, and I would be so worried about forgetting it somwhere. I carry the waist pouch with the .99 cent ponchos, use them once and throw them away, money, credit card, passes, sunscreen, and a few other small items. I am never worried about loosing all our important stuff!

I used to use a "Lumbar Pack" (fancy name for a fanny pack) from Eddie Bauer that I just LOVE. I find that the combination of a fanny pack and cargo shorts works well. On my last trip, I stuffed most of my things in my cargo pockets actually, and skipped the fanny pack altogether. That's where staying on Disney property and using your room key comes in handy - it's your room key, your park ticket, your credit card and your dining all in one!

I use a mini backpack, a fanny pack can't carry all I need... wallet( w/passes), bottle water (I refill it at the park because I hate searching for a water fountain for every sip), digital camera and flip flops on days when I'll be on a water ride because I wear sneakers to the parks (sorry but I wouldn't be caught dead in those ugly Crocs!)
