Well the bad news is we came to the end of our week in Orlando. But the good news is we are heading to Port Canaveral for a 14 night Trans-Atlantic cruise on The Disney Magic..:cool1:
We left the BWV just after 8am an early start for two reasons, one there had been a lot of fires and some road closures and two we wanted to get to port early to try to get a stateroom upgrade. This was 1st time we had rented a Budget car the main reason being they have a depot close to the port so we could drop the car off and get a shuttle bus to the Disney terminal. Wasn't too sure just where the Budget office was so I put the zip code my tomtom and it guided us to the door. Although smoke was hanging around like fog there were no road closures on our route so all went to plan. Other than the long wait at the MCO Budget desk we were very impressed with them and the staff at PC office were really friendly. The shuttle bus dropped us at the port about 9:30am and we joined the line waiting for the terminal to open. Time passed quickly as we chatted with fellow cruisers and in no time we were in the terminal. Got all the check-in formalities sorted and it seemed strange to get our passports back. As soon as we finished we went to the supervisors desk to enquire about an upgrade which we got, cat 8 to cat 5 for $770 a lot of money but a big saving on the normal price and we do enjoy having a balcony.
We spent the time waiting to board talking photo's and chatting with other cruisers and before we knew it it was noon and we were boarding. We headed straight for Parrot Cay and a nice buffet lunch. We checked out our table for dinner and it was a table for 14. We weren't sure how good this would be and thought about requesting a smaller one but decided to go with it and in the end we were pleased we did. After lunch we headed for our stateroom and our bags were already there so we unpacked and sat out on the balcony until the boat drill. After that we went to deck 10 and waved to all the people gathered on shore to see us off, felt really special.
Time to get ready for dinner and meet our fellow diners, 6 Americans, 4 Brits, a couple from the Bahamas and us. Our server was Tomas from the Czech Republic and his asst. was Percy from Peru with Fitz from Jamaica our head server. As I said earlier we weren't too sure about such a large a table and I guess others felt the same as after the second night we were down to 10 and stayed that way the rest of the cruise.
No disrespect to those who left but it was much easier to have a conversation with fewer people and we all hit it off and had such a great time every night.
Next morning we arrived at Castaway Cay and headed for Serenity Bay where we spent the rest of the day sunbathing and swimming oh and eating at the bbq of course.
I know I may be banned from the Dis boards for saying this but neither of us are big fans of the onboard Disney shows so we didn't go to many of these and just spent the time before dinner (late sitting) either relaxing in the room or just wandering around the ship.
This was the first of 4 nights when we had to put our clocks forward one hour for the time zone changes as we cross the Atlantic. Now this is the part of trip where things weren't quite so smooth. Almost from the 1st sea day the wind reached force 7 (moderate gale) and the sea was "very rough" with 4-6m swell. Although neither of us suffered too bad we (as were many others) very tired and quite nauseas (sp) and often didn't get up until 11am. Luckily Lumieres was open for brunch until 12:30 so we didn't go hungry.
Wednesday night we ate in Palo and this was as good as ever with too much food to list but as always finished off with chocolate souffle, delicious.!
Back to Palo on Friday for high tea, very civilised, and later that night it was the Pirates in the Caribbean deck party anything but civilised with the strong wind but they still managed the fireworks which were as good as ever.
Well that takes care of the 1st week, I'll post the second later.

Mick & The Dragon.

Sounds like a great second week apart from the sea sickness

Glad you got your up-grade and it sounded well worth it.
