Hi,
Sunday 20th May and we arrive at Tenerife. Not my favourite part of the world but hey it was dry land!!. We got up about 6am to watch the ship dock and then went to Lumiere's for breakfast. We hadn't booked any excursions as we like to do our own thing. We left the ship about 10am and walked into the city centre(Santa Cruz) had a look around the street market/car boot and then headed along the seafront to a theatre and music centre. While we there we could hear a lot of vehicle noise in the distance and asked a local what was going on. He told us it was a classic car rally so we went to take a look. This was the highlight of the day and there was everything form 2cv's to Porche 911's racing round a car park great fun. Close by was a really nice looking lido but sadly we hadn't brought our swimming gear pity Disney hadn't mentioned it. We took a leisurely walk back to the ship and spent the afternoon by the pool. That evening we went to the Walt Disney Theatre to watch Boyz ll Men which was good.
The next day was at sea and was even rougher and colder than the previous week. The outside decks were deserted and deck 10 was closed again due to high winds. Spent the afternoon at the movies watching Casino Royale.
Tuesday and we arrive in Cadiz same start to day as Tenerife and we spent the morning looking around the city. Very nice buildings but we did get the impression that as Brits we weren't over welcome. Maybe it was just us as we are used to everyone speaking English when were on holiday but really felt out of place. There were lots of ladies gathering in groups dressed in Flamenco style dresses and they would just stop at random and start dancing we assumed there must be some sort of fiesta or something anyway it was nice to see. Again spent the afternoon by the pool on the ship and had it pretty much to ourselves.. Went to see Jim Brickman (legendary pianist?) that night he was ok but not to our taste.
Wednesday was another early start as we came into Gibraltar and the Magic is flying the Union Jack. Got a shuttle bus fom the port to the city centre and wandered around the shops. We then walked to the cable car station to go up the rock to see the apes. Sadly there was a big queue and it was moving slowly. At this point one of the local tour bus operators told us it would be at least an hour wait each way and long walk once were up there. He said he would drive us on an hour tour for 25 euros each. Well we weren't sure if this was a scam but hey it's only monopoly money so what the heck. Turned out to be one of our better decisions and the tour was great. Saw the apes went into the caves and got some awesome views of the city and the Magic.
Had a leisurely walk back to ship through the city and then it was soon time for dinner.
Thursday was a great relaxing at sea day as the weather was good and we spent most of it at the pool. That evening we arrived at Barcelona and anchored of shore to watch a welcome firework show. Now we are big fans of Disney firework shows at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom etc but this show put them to shame it was amazing. There was music and commentary on the ship timed to perfection with the fireworks on shore.
Friday and we entered the port of Barcelona. For us this was a bit of an anti-climax as we knew it was the last full day. We had a look around the city and shops etc but our heart wasn't really in it so went back to the ship pool and met up with some of table mates who thought the same as us. Always find the last night dinner very sad and if anything this was worse as we had all been together for so long. The servers did the usual "small world" routine and not a dry eye in the house..!!
Left the ship about 9am the next day after breakfast and lots of goodbye's the only good thing was we only had a 2 hour flight back to the UK. Flew with BA and was very impressed with the service.
Hope I haven't bored you all too much.

Mick & The Dragon.

Very interesting report - thanks for posting.
