I hear so little about the Backlot Tour at MGM. Does anyone go and if you have gone what do you think? Is there usually a line or do most just pass it up?

We went on our last trip and it was very crowded, about 30-40 min wait. This was in the middle of July though. My whole family enjoyed it. We plan on doing it agian next trip.

We have done it a couple times, and although it is not our favorite attraction, I think everyone should go at least once. We have had to wait before, I think it depends when you are going. They do a pre-show before the "actual" ride...it was better the first time we saw it...and then a small walking tour. Catasrophe Canyon is definitely the best part of the attraction.

I would try it if I were you!

We thought it was a waste of time! The preshow was short (basically water cannons) then you ride around for a bit.

The Backlot Tour used to be awesome! They cut out half of the tour to make room for that really bad stunt show (Lights, Moteur, Action). Poor Golden Girls house... :( Now it's still pretty cool, but only if you have a good tour guide. Last time I went on, he was obviously new because he stuttered the entire way through. The pre-show is okay. From what I hear they're going to theme it towards Pirates soon. Hope they do that before May 12th! :)

We've gone usually in the summer months and didn't ever experience any sort of wait to speak of. Maybe 10 minutes in line before the pre-show, but it was in the shade, so didn't even mind it. I really like the Backlot Tour, but some people don't. One of my sons can take it or leave it -- he'll go if the rest of us want to, but he'd skip it just as easily, whereas I want to do it every time. LOL! Anyway, I do think it's worth doing if you've never done it before and then you can see if it's something you'd like to do again in the future. I think it's worth seeing at least once, though.

DH was picked to be in the pre-show when we went on our honeymoon, so I thought it was hilarious.

I don't know any other way to put it...the Back lot tour SUCKS! Back in the heyday it was great. You got to see the facades used for various shows. You got to tour inside a studio, where they were taping some Nick kid shows. It was well worth the time.

We went this past July, and the first time since they removed all that cool stuff. What a boring time, IMHO.

Since the Animators got fired, there's been little reason I think to ride more than once every few years. With the animators, you had the chance to see some real production. The old props and such never really got me that interested but since the actual production at the Studios stopped a couple of years ago, the Backlot Tour is a real shell of it's former self.

When I was a kid I loved it! Bust this past fall when I rode it, it was really dissapointing. When they added Lights Motor Action!, it took up a lot of the old tour. Also when we were on it last year, the canyon did not start up properly. This was middle of August, in the August heat and we sat there for over 15mins. waiting for the dumb thing to start, I prefer Earthquake! at USF over this. Then once they finnaly got it to work we begain to exit, well our Tram driver didn't read the indicator lights properly and almost hit another tram. The only way for the other tram to continue on its way, was for our tram driver to back up, well guess what? She did not know how to back the thing up! So they had to call out for mechanics to come and back it up, it took only about 40mins!

Yeah, so my last impression of this attraction is not good. If you already did everything else at the park and want something new to do, then yeah ride it, but I would not put it on the top of my to do list. And if you do decide to ride it, I hope you have a little better luck on it than I did.

Just went on Thursday. Whenever my family goes to MGM there are almost no waits or crowds, so it went really fast. five or ten minute wait. I recommend it!

I like it a lot. If nothing else, it's a chance to sit down for a while

It needs some updating to be sure!!!! we went on it jsut to see Herbie the Love Bug. The canyon part scared my youngest and other than that, there isn't any action. I definately think it is not a priority.

We waited pretty long and were disappointed! Since the stunt show moved in, it just seems like you're riding around behind the bleachers looking at props.....all the houses are gone. It was a lot better before.
