Back in the Room from the Poly Beach!!!

Yum! We had dinner at Artist Point, and it was fabulous! Did you enjoy your meal?

Thanks Pam!!!! :sunny: I am SO happy to hear how much you are enjoying your stay at the Polynesian!!

I'm hoping that the lagoon views from Tuvalu are decent. I hope we can see the castle from our room.

Also, did you get leis at check-in? I know this sounds corny, but I am really looking forward to that!! :p

I know there were still doing this on 1/27/004 when we went there...

We were not given any at check in on 12/24. I was so excited to be there I didnt even realize it until a few days later when I saw other people wearing them. However on our last day, while sitting in the kids area waiting for our town car to arrive, not only were we given some(the woman came up to all the adults & kids and put them on us), but the kids were able to make little wrist one at the little crafts table.
So,if you dont get them at check in, you might want to stroll to the kiddie area and see what they have.

PamNC and Stacey - thank you for thinking of us at the DIS! We are always visiting Disney vicariously through everyone's trip reports - but it is even COOLER to be able to talk with you while you're on site. It's almost like being there!

I have a question I was hoping you could answer. We are planning on staying at the Poly for the first time in April of 2005 (I know long time :( ). Anyway, when we go our kids will be 16, 13, 5 and 1 1/2. What would you suggest is better - thrid floor with the balcony or ground floor with the sliding door? (I'm leaning heavily toward ground floor - balconies and kids make me nervous).

Thanks gals! Tip a cold one on the beach for me and have a wonderful time!

Aloha!!! :sunny:

I vote for the first floor, with 2 little ones you can easily step outside and let them run off some steam. Also if you have a stroller with you there is no need to wait for an elevator :) That is what we have now, a first floor room. We had a second floor room last time we stayed here and I missed the balcony. Although I noticed some buildings have balconies on the second floor.

Aloha everyone

I think you're right - ground floor it is! I heard that sometimes the ducks and bunnies come right up to the patios - no need for towel animals :hyper:

Have a great stay!

Aloha :sunny:

Live from the Poly!

SeaSpray - From Tuvalu you'll have a great view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and GF but it's very possible that the island sitting in the middle of the lagoon could block castle views. I can't say for sure because I wasn't actually in the room, but standing on the beach it appears this could be the case. For castle views, I suggest Tahiti or Hawaii.

Tokelau is wonderful!!!! Very central to everything. Short walk to TTC, GCH, Neverland Club and the quiet pool, and arcade. I haven't asked about how long the refurb will be going on but I will ask this weekend and post again.

All of a sudden yesterday (Friday) the gates opened up and this place is packed!!! Wow! What a difference a day makes. All week it's been nice and quiet. We're going to avoid the MK for the rest of the trip I think. We've done everything we want to do over there anyway. MGM was pretty crowded yesterday, but not unbearable.

Yes, we loved our dinner at Artist Pointe. We got the pork tenderloin with mac n' cheese. The service was good, but not great which is unusual because it's usually superior. There weren't more than 8 families eating there.

I haven't seen a playground. We don't have kids so I'm not looking BUT I did look yesterday because someone on here asked about it. I haven't seen one but I hear the Neverland Club is excellent.

We did Ohana's for the first time - it was fantastic. We like the Lapu Lapu Pineapple drink. We met a couple who are as Disney crazy as us. They are here from Boston w/o their kids. However, their kids don't know where they are. It was funny because their son called and they were afraid they would be found out with all the noise going on at Ohana.

Mousekeeping - I have noticed that mousekeeping isn't working at 100% during this trip. It's not bad - but we didn't get soap yeterday and we got sand on the carpet from the beach and it's been sitting there for 2 days. Which makes me think they aren't really vacuuming. But, hey, I'm easy to please so no biggie. We did run into one rude cast member at Barefoot Bay Bar - her name is Dinah....beware! My husband complained to management about her it was so bad.

Other than that - everything is PERFECT. I love the Poly - it's so magical and relaxing. Oh, and romantic.

Looks like it's going to rain today so we're going to shop at the Premium Outlet. And we're having Valentine's day dinner at Narcoosees.

I'll post again.

How are the lines now with the crowd?? It's Presiden't Day weekend so that could be why... kids are out of school on Monday here in Brevard (an hour away from WDW). We were planning on going tomorrow but if lines are long our back up plan was go to down south to Ft. Lauderdale to snorkel (fiance wants to test out his fins and such before our cruise).

I'm real sorry to hear this especially since we had a problem with mousekeeping last October. Our room was not only filthy but dangerous. The front desk was basically no help either. My kids loved the pool and have asked if we can go back but im afraid if we have more housekeeping problems i'll be blaming myself because "we should have known better".

and there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for a rude cast member!

Hey MsSpinShady just watch those sliding doors, my DD slamed her finger only minutes after ariving in our room. She ended up being ok but it kept her away from the door the rest of the trip. We had a 3rd floor balcony in Tahiti. Great view of the Castle and Space Mountain. We left the curtains open and used MK as our night light! Also the walk to TTC was so close we used that instad of the GCH to get places quickly.

and very sad. We came back home to snow last night. yuk!

Wanted to try to answer more questions.

We did receive leis at check-in. In fact, we wore them to our dinner at Ohanas. They are a simple, yet nice touch. Of course we brought them home.

Refurbishments: I asked about the schedule and here's the deal. The quiet pool will be finished mid-April. And the work on Roratonga and Nuie will be done mid-May.
If you go before then, stay away from the quiet pool side of Tokelau and the garden side of Hawaii. Also, whatever the longhouse is on the opposite side of the pool from Tokelau - I think it's Somoa. The construction is quite loud on the pool! Drills and lots of banging. However, we moved to the other side of Tokelau and couldn't hear a thing. The CM's were so nice and helpful about moving us.

We love the Poly - it's now officially mine and Uncle Albert's favorite. Sorry, Beach Club. In fact, we're anxiously awaiting AP rates to come out for a late May trip. Any word on those yet???????

Lines were pretty bad starting Friday, 2/13. Up until then....almost empty. It was a wild weekend at the MK. A cast member told us it would be busy starting then through Easter.

I'll do a trip report - so watch that board for more details.

ALOHA.
